As a long-time Resident Evil fan, I think the first time you encounter a Licker delivers an unmatched feeling compared to facing almost any other monster in the franchise. They are just genuinely terrifying with their exposed brain, lack of skin, razor-sharp claws, and that freakishly long, whip-like tongue.

And I know I wasn’t alone in feeling that way, given how these horrifying creatures (and I mean that as the highest compliment) quickly became one of the most iconic, nerve-wracking monsters in survival horror history.

Fast-forward to today, and who would have thought we’d see the day they were immortalized in a popcorn bucket?

A Horrifyingly Detailed Collectible You Can Wear

Universal Studios Japan has just unveiled a brand-new, officially licensed Resident Evil popcorn bucket modeled after the infamous creature, and it is easily one of the coolest (and most delightfully unsettling) pieces of gaming merch we’ve seen in a long time.

This isn’t that average, flimsy plastic tub meant to hold a quick movie snack. The newly revealed Licker popcorn bucket is a highly detailed sculpt capturing the monster’s exposed muscular structure, brain tissue, and terrifying jaw. It’s literally a detailed miniature of the creature that manages to look almost uncomfortably cute – okay, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit there.

But the best part is definitely that Universal Studios Japan actually designed this piece to double as a wearable backpack. That means you can literally strap this horror icon to your back, pack it full of popcorn, and carry your creepy new companion with you everywhere you go across the park.

Imagine walking around eating snacks directly out of a giant Licker’s head while it clings to your shoulders – it is equal parts hilarious, horrifying, and perfect for hardcore fans of the franchise!

Oh, and if carrying a giant monster on your back isn’t quite your style, Universal Studios Japan is also rolling out a full lineup of exclusive Resident Evil apparel and accessories to complement the attraction. Among the revealed items are a stylish, retro-inspired Raccoon Police Department (R.P.D.) t-shirt and a matching R.P.D. tactical-style bag, perfect for anyone who wants to rep Leon S. Kennedy’s iconic first day on the job without attracting too many mutant BOWs in the process. You can check out both products in the gallery right below:

Honestly, I have to put this Licker bucket right up there as one of the best popcorn buckets I’ve ever seen. It sits comfortably alongside legendary releases like the iconic Jaws anniversary bucket, where you literally reach inside the Great White’s razor-sharp maw to grab your popcorn, and that incredible Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves D20 die bucket that every tabletop fan needed on their shelf. Turning a terrifying monster into a functional, wearable piece of park gear is just pure genius. Plus, I have no doubt it would look absolutely incredible sitting on a themed Resident Evil shelf at home.

Universal Studios Japan has just unveiled a brand-new, officially licensed Resident Evil popcorn bucket modeled after the infamous creature, and it is easily one of the coolest (and most delightfully unsettling) pieces of gaming merch we’ve seen in a long time.

While official pricing details and an exact drop date haven’t been fully detailed just yet, the timing of the reveal gives us a pretty clear picture of when fans can expect to get their hands on it. Universal Studios Japan is gearing up for its annual Halloween Horror Nights event, which is set to feature a dedicated haunted attraction titled Resident Evil Requiem – The Dive. It is practically guaranteed that this masterpiece of a popcorn bucket will hit merchandise stands right alongside the house’s grand opening. On top of that, we also have the new live-action Resident Evil movie coming out, which recently generated a ton of buzz with its latest trailer packed with subtle game easter eggs.

Theme park popcorn buckets have exploded in popularity among collectors over the last few years, but combining survival horror nostalgia with a genuinely awesome wearable design takes things to a whole new level. Of course, the only downside here is that you’ll likely need a flight ticket to Osaka (which would be amazing to visit, but definitely pricey!) to secure one for your shelf. But honestly? Seeing a high-quality, practical-effect sculpt of a Licker turned into a functional popcorn backpack is so absurdly cool that it just might be worth the hunt!
