LG’s 45-inch OLED ultrawide with dual refresh modes is $700 off

Ultrawide monitors offer significantly more horizontal screen real estate, which is handy whether you’re gaming (for immersion) or working (for focus and productivity). OLED panels offer true blacks, vivid colors, and ultra-fast response times. The LG UltraGear 45GX950A-B combines both into a single 45-inch display that’ll upgrade any PC desk.

The 45GX950A-B is priced down on Amazon right now, available for “just” $1,299.99. That may seem pricey, but ultrawide OLEDs are expensive across the board—and given that this one is $700 off its original MSRP of $1,999.99, that’s a solid deal. It has only been cheaper once before, blipping down to $1,199.99 for a day before spiking back up.

    What the LG 45GX950A-B offers

This monitor packs a gorgeous OLED panel into a 45-inch ultrawide form, providing a 5120×2160 resolution. You can think of that as two 2560×1440 monitors side by side, with even more vertical space and no annoying bezel going down the center. It’s all the screen real estate you could need, both for gaming and for productivity.

The OLED panel’s 1,500,000:1 contrast ratio means ultra-vivid colors for maximum immersion, and its 0.03ms response time means smooth graphics (no blurring) even in high-action scenes. But what’s really cool is its dual-mode operation: the 45GX950A-B can run 5120×2160 at 165Hz or switch down to 2560×1080 at 330Hz. If your PC can’t handle 5K2K, or if you just need every last frame you can get, it’s a cool trick to have.

Another nice bit is its USB-C video port with 90W of power delivery, meaning you can attach this monitor to your laptop (assuming your laptop supports USB-C video and is powerful enough to drive 5120×2560 or 2560×1080) and keep your laptop charged without another port.

Note that this monitor has an aggressive 800R curve, which wraps around your peripheral vision so you don’t have to strain your eyes to see the far corners and edges. It’s more immersive too. But that curvature can interfere with certain tasks and applications that may require a flat screen, like graphics work, photo editing, layout design, etc.

Why this offer is worth considering

If you have a powerful gaming PC or laptop and you want a massive single monitor on which to do all your gaming and work, this 45-inch OLED ultrawide is a strong pick. At 45 inches, it’s not too big. With OLED, it looks amazing with games, movies, and TV shows. With 5K2K resolution, it provides more than enough space to replace multiple screens.

And now that it’s $1,299.99, it’s way more affordable than when it debuted at $1,999.99. Amazon says over 500 units were sold in the last month, and buyers are generally happy with a 4.3 rating across 600+ reviews.
