GTA 6 Limited Edition Controllers: Pre-Order, Price, Release Date & Designs

Sony and Rockstar Games unveiled two GTA 6 themed DualSense controllers during a PlayStation State of Play on September 3, 2026. Both ship alongside GTA 6 on November 19, 2026, and pre-orders open days from now. If you’re already working out how to pre-order GTA 6 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, these controllers are the first piece of hardware tied to that launch.

The timing matters because GTA 6 ships digital-only. Rockstar isn’t putting a disc on shelves, so this controller pair is effectively the only physical item tied to the release, aside from a code-carrying case some retailers may offer. That scarcity is likely why Sony leaned hard into the design rather than treating it as a throwaway tie-in.

Here’s everything confirmed so far: what each controller looks like, what it costs, when pre-orders go live, and where you can actually buy one.

What the GTA 6 Controllers Look Like

Both controllers pull from Vice City’s visual identity, but they split the setting into two times of day rather than repeating the same look twice.

    1. Black Limited Edition

    • Theme: Vice City after dark
    • Finish: Black body with a shimmering, color-shifting neon-purple gradient
    • Accents: Purple face buttons and D-pad, embossed palm tree grips, GTA VI logo etched into the touchpad with palm silhouettes
    • Rear detail: Embossed Rockstar Games logo
    • Availability: PlayStation Direct exclusive in supported regions

    2. White Limited Edition

    • Theme: Vice City at daybreak
    • Finish: White body with pastel, sun-bleached tones
    • Accents: Same purple face buttons, D-pad, and etched touchpad logo as the black version, with embossed palm grips
    • Rear detail: Embossed Rockstar Games logo
    • Availability: PlayStation Direct and select retailers

Internally, both are standard DualSense hardware. Haptic feedback and the adaptive triggers work exactly as they do on the base controller. Rockstar’s vehicle customization system in GTA 6 gets deep treatment in-game, but this hardware customization stops at the shell. Nothing here changes how the controller performs.

    Price and Where to Buy

    RegionPriceCurrencyUnited States$84.99USDUnited Kingdom£74.99GBPEuropean Union€84.99EURJapan¥12,480JPY

That price sits above the $79.99 standard edition of the game itself and below the $99.99 Ultimate Edition, and it lines up with what Sony has charged for other tie-in DualSense controllers, including the Marvel’s Wolverine and 007 First Light versions. If you’re weighing which version of the game to buy alongside it, the GTA 6 Standard vs Ultimate Edition breakdown covers what the extra $20 actually gets you.

Buying access differs by color. The white controller sells through PlayStation Direct and participating retailers, so Amazon, Best Buy, and similar stores should carry it closer to launch. The black controller is locked to PlayStation Direct in the regions where that storefront operates: the United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Italy, and Austria. Outside those markets, or if PlayStation Direct sells out, the black variant currently has no confirmed alternative source.

Neither controller has an Xbox version. GTA 6 launches on Xbox Series X|S the same day, but Sony and Rockstar built these exclusively for PS5.

    Pre-Order Date and Time

RegionDateLocal timeUnited StatesSeptember 10, 20267:00 AM PT / 10:00 AM ETUnited Kingdom & EuropeSeptember 10, 202610:00 AM local time

Pre-orders open through PlayStation Direct first. Given how quickly tie-in DualSense controllers have sold out in the past, expect the black, PS Direct-exclusive version to move faster than the white one.

Important Things to Know Before You Buy

Stock for the black controller could be tighter than usual since PlayStation Direct is the only confirmed source in every supported region. If it sells out at launch, there’s no guarantee of a restock before GTA 6 arrives on November 19.

Sony hasn’t announced a special-edition PS5 console to match these controllers, though one wouldn’t be surprising given how the company has bundled hardware with major exclusives before. Nothing is confirmed yet.

The controller is a cosmetic product, not a gameplay one. It won’t affect anything about how GTA 6’s in-game economy or spending options work, since it’s hardware sold separately from the game itself.

    Final Thoughts

With GTA 6 shipping without a physical disc, Sony’s controllers currently stand as the only tangible collectible tied to the launch, and that alone should keep demand high through September and October. Expect more retail listings to surface as November 19 approaches, along with the usual scalper markups once stock runs low. For now, PlayStation Direct is the safest bet for either colorway.

What are the GTA 6 limited edition controllers?

They’re two DualSense controllers designed around Vice City, one themed for daytime and one for nighttime, released alongside GTA 6 on November 19, 2026.

Is there an Xbox version of these controllers?

No. Both are PS5 exclusives, even though GTA 6 also releases on Xbox Series X|S.

How do these compare to other DualSense tie-in controllers?

They’re priced the same as recent tie-ins like the Marvel’s Wolverine and 007 First Light DualSense controllers, at $84.99, with no changes to internal hardware or haptics.
