I tested ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini on the same branding task, and only one felt ready for Instagram

My sister recently started making homemade chocolate chip cookies from her kitchen, and she wanted to turn that small idea into an actual business. The product was simple — one signature chocolate chip cookie. I thought the branding would be a fun test for AI. Instead of helping her myself, I decided to see what three popular AI chatbots would come up with.

I gave ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini the same job: build the brand from scratch, including the name, tagline, logo, colors, packaging, and social media launch content. I didn’t give any of them extra instructions or change the prompt between tests. I wanted to see how differently they would interpret the exact same creative brief.

The exact prompt I gave all three AI chatbots

You’re helping launch a small home-based cookie business run by one person out of their home kitchen. They’re known for one thing: a single, perfect chocolate chip cookie.
Create and produce the full brand kit:
Brand name — memorable, ownable, not generic
Tagline — one line that captures the whole vibe
Logo — Generates the logo as an image. It should suit the brand.
Color palette — 3–4 colors with names, hex codes, and the mood each sets
Packaging — generate an image showing how the cookie is wrapped or boxed
Social media launch post — write the first Instagram caption (with hashtags) and generate the accompanying photo which should match the brand identity
Make real choices — no hedging or multiple options. Produce every visual asset as an actual image, not just a description.

    Models I used

    • ChatGPT GPT-5.6 Luna
    • Gemini 3.7 Flash
    • Claude Opus 4.8

    Gemini was the fastest

Could have taken more time for better results

Gemini was the quickest of the three to finish the task. I didn’t have to wait around for the complete response, which was nice when I was testing the same prompt across multiple tools. The speed, however, came with a few compromises.

The logo it created was basic, but I wouldn’t call it bad, especially for a first attempt. The bigger issue was that Gemini somehow didn’t attach the packaging image, even though I had specifically asked for one in the prompt. That made the final brand kit feel incomplete.

I also felt the color palette would have been easier to judge if Gemini had shown it visually instead of only listing the colors. The tagline was another weak point for me. It technically followed the instructions, but it read more like a regular sentence than a memorable brand tagline. Overall, Gemini got the job done quickly, but I felt it could have benefited from spending more time on the creative details.

I used Claude, Gemini, and ChatGPT to create my personal website, and there was a clear winner

    The AI web dev battle.

    ChatGPT was the most creative

    Creative enough!

ChatGPT was the one that impressed me the most creatively. The overall ideas felt more thought-out, and I genuinely liked the way it approached the visual side of the brand. The creatives looked polished enough to make the fictional cookie business feel like something I could actually imagine seeing online.

One thing that surprised me was that it could also create a background-removed version of the image. That wasn’t something I expected to be particularly useful for this test, but it showed how flexible the image generation could be when working on a brand.

The biggest drawback was how it presented the visuals. Instead of giving me separate images for the logo, packaging, and social media, ChatGPT put several of them together in a single collage-style image. There were no individual assets, which was less convenient to use. It was a whole brand kit presented in a single image. Still, creatively, this was the response I enjoyed working with the most.

    Claude was the slowest

Results could not justify the time

Claude took the longest to finish the task, and by the time the results were ready, I was expecting something that would really stand out. Unfortunately, the final output didn’t quite match that expectation.

The logo was the first thing that caught my attention, and not in a good way. The elements felt like they were overlapping, which made the design look less clean than I wanted. It didn’t have the same immediate visual appeal as the other results.

The social media post was another disappointment for me. It was extremely basic and didn’t feel catchy enough for a brand trying to make its first impression on Instagram. The writing wasn’t necessarily wrong, but it lacked the personality I was looking for.

I did like the color palette, though. It felt considered and suited the cookie brand well. The tagline was also decent and, like ChatGPT’s, had a nice fit for the overall idea. But overall, the time it took didn’t feel justified by the final result.

One prompt, one report, three very different approaches to summarizing a 200+ page document.

The cookie was the same, but the brands weren’t

This little experiment made one thing clear to me: creative AI isn’t just about getting an answer, but about how each tool approaches an idea. I started with one simple cookie and ended up with three very different interpretations of the same business. For me, ChatGPT was clearly better than other tools. Sometimes, the best approach is to try the same idea in more than one place and see what clicks.
