Siri AI launches next week in iOS 27, and it’s a huge upgrade to Apple’s assistant. There are tons of ways Siri is new and improved, but here are three examples of times Siri has impressed me so far.

#1: Adding NFL games to my calendar

It’s football season again, and every year when the NFL schedule comes out, I go through the tedious but important work of adding games to my calendar.

Sometimes the NFL provides a .ics file to make this a little easier. But it can still be convoluted to do this from my iPhone, and doesn’t typically include the info I want.

So this year, I tried using Siri AI—and it was a big time saver.

I asked Siri to find all the Dallas Cowboys games and add them to my calendar. Yes, I’m a fan of America’s Team, and I’ll accept your pity.

In my request, I specified that Siri should include info on where each game will be available to stream. NFL games these days can air on FOX One, Paramount+, Peacock, Prime Video, ESPN, or even Netflix. It’s a lot to keep up with.

Impressively, Siri did exactly what I wanted. All the games were put on my calendar like I wanted, with info on how to watch.

#2: Finding my vehicle license plate info

Just last week, I was filling out a form online that asked for my vehicle license plate number.

I don’t have my license plate memorized, and my wife had the car with her at the time. But I was pretty sure I had a photo or some other record of the plate number somewhere on my iPhone.

I asked Siri: “Can you find my current license plate number?”

Within a few seconds, it came back with the answer. My plate number was included, along with a link to an email where Siri found the number. It was in a registration renewal email—which I didn’t even remember having.

    #3: Apple Watch band size

Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 went on sale right after the September event earlier this week (you can pre-order here: Series 12, Ultra 4).

I’ve opted for an Apple Watch Series 12 this year, and initially was looking to get a Braided Solo Loop band. I had one a few years ago and really loved it.

Though I ultimately opted for a different band, I did hit a roadblock when browsing the Solo Loop options: I didn’t remember my size.

Unlike most Apple Watch bands, you need to select a very specific size for the Solo Loop to ensure a good fit. And in the rush of trying to get my pre-order in, I didn’t want to be delayed by a size test.

So instead, I told Siri that I’d purchased an Apple Watch before with a Solo Loop and was trying to find my size. It located the info in an old note I’d saved years ago. Like the license plate discovery, I didn’t even remember that such a note existed.

    Siri AI wrap-up

Siri can do much more than the few things I’ve mentioned above. For example, I use it all the time for world knowledge questions that I previously would have asked ChatGPT or Google Gemini.

But these three use cases highlight a core advantage Siri now has: tapping into your personal data in an intelligent and privacy-friendly way.

What’s your experience with Siri AI been like in iOS 27 so far? Let us know in the comments.
