It’s very much still an expensive phone, but once you understand what Xiaomi is packing under the hood, it makes a lot more sense.
We reviewed the Xiaomi 17 Ultra at launch earlier this year, awarding it 4.5 stars and praising its camera system, screen and speakers as some of the best around on a phone that handles gaming and heavy workloads without breaking stride – and that was at its full RRP.
The star is the 50MP main camera, combining a 1-inch Light Fusion 1050L sensor with a 23mm Leica lens, wide f/1.67 aperture and OIS. It also uses LOFIC HDR processing to preserve detail in shadows and highlights, particularly at night.

Alongside it is a 200MP Leica telephoto with a large 1/1.4-inch sensor. Its lens mechanically moves between 75mm and 100mm, with an f/2.39–f/2.96 aperture and OIS keeping zoomed shots steady.
Bringing up the rear is a 50MP ultrawide, pairing a 1/2.75-inch sensor with a 14mm f/2.2 lens and expansive 115-degree field of view.
Driving all of that is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, backed by Xiaomi’s 3D Dual-Channel IceLoop cooling system, which the brand says boosts thermal conductivity by 50 percent so performance holds steady under sustained load.

None of that power goes to waste day-to-day either, since 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage give the phone enough headroom for heavy multitasking, 4K footage and a large photo library without ever feeling stretched.
