According to reports, Samsung is planning to expand its 4nm capacity. The reason is to meet the increasing demand for HBM4 base dies. Thus, it’s expected that HBM4 revenue will triple quarter-over-quarter.
Furthermore, Korean media is reporting that apart from expanding 4nm capacity, Samsung is also considering an investment in a new 2nm production line to prepare for HBM5. This demand is also giving Samsung more pricing power, with the company raising prices recently for new 4nm foundry orders and for HBM4 base dies.
Currently, Samsung’s production line for the 4nm process is in full operation. Apart from being used for HBM4 base dies, the brand’s 4nm production lines are also used to make chips for other clients. Now Samsung has raised prices for new 4nm foundry orders, due to the rising demand for production on this process node.
Samsung is increasing its 2nm production capacity to meet this demand as the industry prepares for a shift to the next-generation HBM5 chips. This will also provide Samsung with an opportunity for more profits, as the company expects its HBM4 revenue for Q3 2026 to more than triple compared to the same time in 2025.
