Korean tech giant Samsung today finally confirmed the launch of the new Galaxy SmartTag3, a lighter, more compact tracker which comes with quite a number of improvements, including longer-range finding, cross-OS support, and faster location updates.
Samsung says that the new tracker is around 35% smaller and 33% lighter than its predecessor, and also comes with a rounded form which includes an aluminum-decorated button. More interestingly, the SmartTag3 also features cross-compatibility for both Galaxy and iOS devices through SmartThings Find, allowing multiple users across different platforms to access core sharing and location features.

For battery, the device can stay active for up to 550 days under standard usage and up to 790 days in Power Saving Mode. Connectivity works via Bluetooth 6.0 with a distance of up to 60 meters, in addition to ultra-wideband (UWB) for better location accuracy. When out of direct range, the device taps into Samsung’s Galaxy Find Network which includes more than 900 million participating Galaxy devices for faster location updates.
The Galaxy SmartTag3 also comes with new proactive features such as Place Notifications to alert users when a tagged item moves into or out of a defined area, as well as Location History and Movement Detection Alerts. Other features include IP67 water and dust resistance, NFC-powered Lost Mode, SmartThings IoT control via the tag button, and Left Behind Alerts, all backed by encrypted location data for privacy and security.
