2K’s NBA series games are undoubtedly some of the best-selling sports titles on today’s consoles, although it should be said that all good things must come to an end. More specifically, we’re referring to NBA 2K25, which is nearing the end of its support life cycle soon.
More specifically, 2K Sports recently announced that it’s scheduled the game for complete server discontinuation later this year on December 31, 2026. Ahead of the shutdown, the game will be officially pulled from digital storefronts and made unavailable for purchase starting October 30, 2026. Part of 2K’s official announcement reads:
There’s the final buzzer, it’s time for NBA 2K25 to be discontinued as of December 31, 2026. This game will no longer be available for purchase as of October 30, 2026.
If you already own the game, you will still be able to redownload and play offline modes… We thank you for being a part of our community and hope you continue to enjoy NBA 2K!
That being said, existing owners can continue to redownload and play the game offline, though connectivity to all 2K servers will end on January 1, 2027. This disables all online functionality, including multiplayer matches, Online Leagues, community sharing features, and the ability to earn Virtual Currency (VC).

Additionally, online hubs like MyCAREER and MyTEAM will become entirely inaccessible, although offline game modes such as Play Now, MyNBA, The W, and MyWNBA will remain functional.
