If you own an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, Apple just gave you a job to do. The company’s latest software update patches close to 600 security flaws across its operating systems.
This isn’t a small tweak you can put off. These updates cover flaws that could let attackers see your private data or crash your apps. Some could even let someone take deeper control of your device. Between the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Vision Pro, this batch touches almost every device Apple currently sells. The fix is already out, so any delay just means staying exposed longer than you need to.
What Apple’s Update Actually Covers
The update lineup is bigger than usual. It includes iOS 26.6 and iPadOS 26.6 for iPhone and iPad, and macOS Tahoe 26.6 for newer Macs. Apple also released separate patches for older Macs still running Sequoia or Sonoma. On top of that, matching updates went out for the Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Vision Pro.
iOS and iPadOS 26.6 alone fix close to 90 security issues. macOS Tahoe 26.6 covers even more ground, patching over 150 flaws. The older Sequoia and Sonoma updates each resolve well over 100 issues of their own. Some of those bugs could have let an attacker gain root access or slip past built-in security checks.
-Safari picked up nearly a dozen fixes too, some tied to how the browser handles memory and page permissions. The watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS updates each close out around 100 issues of their own, rounding the total close to 600 across every platform.
Apple hasn’t said any of these flaws were being used in real attacks before the fix went out. But now that the technical details are public, security researchers and potentially attackers can study exactly what was broken. That makes any phone or computer that skips the update an easier target than it was last week.
Head to Settings, then General, then Software Update on your iPhone or iPad. On a Mac, go to System Settings, then General, then Software Update. Install whatever update is offered, and turn on automatic updates so you’re not left waiting on the next one.
