Samsung recently announced that it’s been working alongside Prime Video to with the introduction of HDR10+ ADVANCED, which brings high dynamic range technology to home displays. Beginning August 2026, Prime Video will become the first streaming service to offer HDR10+ ADVANCED titles globally, launching first on Samsung’s 2026 television lineup. Taeyong Son, Executive VP of Visual Display (VD) Business at Samsung comments:

As home viewing options become more diverse, users are prioritizing elite viewing standards and greater levels of immersion… By collaborating with Prime Video, we are bringing HDR10+ ADVANCED to home entertainment systems for the first time, we are elevating the home viewing experience all over the world.

With that in mind, the updated standard comes with “Enhanced Overall Brightness” which uses statistical metadata and AI-driven tone mapping to maximize peak brightness, retain detail in dark scenes, and deliver vibrant visuals across the entire tonal spectrum. There’s also “Intelligent Motion Smoothing” which reads scene-by-scene metadata to adjust display motion dynamically, maintaining a cinematic cadence for movies while eliminating motion blur during fast-paced sports and action.

The launch also builds on the companies’ initial 2017 team-up, which marked Prime Video as the first platform to roll out original HDR10+ formatting across Samsung’s UHD TVs. Since then, the open HDR10+ ecosystem has rolled out to over 180 more partners and thousands of certified devices. Samsung will bring HDR10+ ADVANCED support across its 2026 flagship displays and roll out compatibility to additional models.
