When do Labor Day sales start?
Labor Day 2026 falls on Monday, Sept. 7 but most sales aren’t confined to that single date. Many retailers have already kicked things off before the holiday and may run deals beyond it too. Best Buy is wrapping up its Labor-Day specific savings around Sept. 7, but we expect appliance and other tech deals to linger.
Which Labor Day sales are the best?
There are plenty of competing Labor Day sales and the best one for you will depend on what you’re shopping for. Amazon, Best Buy and Walmart are solid starting points if tech and smart home purchases are on your list. For home and garden products, Home Depot and Lowe’s are worth checking first.
Don’t over look the more niche retailers either — B&H, Dell, HP and more often run their own Labor Day promos worth browsing. Shopping direct at your favorite brands is always worth a look, too.
Should you wait for Black Friday instead?
Labor Day sales tend to offer some of the best savings between summer and the holiday shopping season. If you need furniture, yard equipment or appliances now, Labor Day is a great time to buy, with the end-of-summer pricing working in your favor.
That said, Black Friday remains the biggest sale of the year and if you can afford to wait a couple of months, the savings could go deeper. Worth noting — Prime Day sales in October has become a fixture in recent years, which means the holiday shopping season kicks off even earlier.
