Huawei has officially unveiled the Mate XT 2 Extraordinary Master, the second generation of its tri-fold smartphone lineup. Transitioning from its predecessor’s outward-folding form factor, the device introduces an inward G-shaped hinge mechanism that fully encases the flexible panel when closed. The chassis measures 12.3 mm folded, reaches 3.5 mm at its thinnest edge when unfolded, and weighs 299 grams, holding IP58 and IP59 water- and dust-resistance ratings.

The device features two displays: a 6.5-inch outer LTPO OLED panel (1–120 Hz, up to 6,500 nits) protected by basalt glass, and a 10.2-inch internal 3K LTPO OLED display (1–90 Hz). A notable addition is the optional Lingdun hardware-based privacy screen. Using a dual-pixel structure, the panel selectively blocks off-axis viewing angles via a double tap or toggle switch, shielding on-screen content from peripheral view.

Under the hood, the Mate XT 2 runs on the Kirin 9050 Pro processor, delivering up to 46% improved overall performance over the Kirin 9030 Pro. It features a Ma Liang GPU with real-time ray tracing and a Da Vinci NPU capable of processing on-device multimodal AI models up to 30 billion parameters. A cross-axis graphene vapor chamber manages thermals under heavy loads.

The imaging system utilizes an RYYB color array comprising a 50 MP main sensor with variable aperture (f/1.49–f/4.0) and OIS, a 40 MP ultra-wide lens, a 50 MP periscope telephoto module with 3.5x optical zoom, and a 1.5 MP Red Maple multi-spectral color sensor. Both displays house 8 MP selfie cameras.

A 5,600 mAh battery powers the phone, supporting 66W wired and 50W wireless charging. Additional hardware elements include a Class II certified ECG sensor, dual satellite connectivity (Tiantong calling and BeiDou messaging), and M-Pen 3 stylus support. The device runs HarmonyOS 7, offering native three-way split-screen multitasking.

    Availability and Price

The Huawei Mate XT 2 Extraordinary Master is currently available for pre-order in the Chinese market, with official deliveries scheduled to begin on September 13, and early buyers receiving a complimentary rotating-stand protective case. All configurations come equipped with 16 GB of RAM, starting at ¥19,999 (~$2,980) for the 256 GB model, ¥21,999 (~$3,278) for the 512 GB version, and ¥23,999 (~$3,576) for the 1 TB variant.

The 1 TB edition featuring the Lingdun Privacy Display is priced at ¥24,999 (~$3,725), while the top-tier 2 TB Special Edition bundled with a stylus kit retails for ¥29,999 (~$4,470). For optional accessories sold separately, the M-Pen 3 Mini is priced at ¥1,199 (~$179) and the Mobile Photography Kit is listed at ¥1,499 (~$223).
