Yesterday, Nintendo gave us our first proper look at The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, revealing an updated version of Link and “overhauled” visuals.
This remake of the N64 hit doesn’t stop there, with the development team also making some major updates to the gameplay. Or at least it’s big news for Ocarina of Time, with Link now able to jump and dash on demand, with the press of a button!
As Mr. Anouma explained during the official gameplay demonstration, in the original title, Link would automatically jump when he got to a ledge, so this is quite the update! Additionally, you can now dash when you perform a roll and hold down the A button. This is definitely going to be handy when it comes to traversing the lands of Hyrule, or even retracing your steps. Watch out, Running Man!

We’ll just have to wait and see how much these new mechanics might change the game’s flow (or potentially break it), but speedruns could get interesting.
One other thing Nintendo noted during the 40th Anniversary Zelda Direct was the modern camera movements in the Switch 2 version of Ocarina of Time. The camera is no longer fixed and is now similar to Link’s new outings.
So, there you go, these are just some of the gameplay updates you can expect to see in Ocarina of Time on the Switch 2.
What are your thoughts about these updates? Let us know in the comments.
