It’s interesting to know that a new version of the Gallery Cloud Sync system app (v1.6.09.31) now adds Google Photos integration. This upcoming feature is set to go live on the 1st of October, the day after Samsung drops OneDrive support. This development replaces Microsoft’s cloud storage service with a Samsung-native one (Samsung Cloud). It only offers you 15GB for free.
There are more to enjoy from the Google Photos support page. For instance, by default, photos and videos from your camera roll will be synced. You can still stop it and add whichever folders you want. Synced files will be available across your connected devices and can be viewed via the Google Photos app and web page.
Furthermore, when any file is deleted, it will disappear from both apps and from your cloud storage. Also, edited photos will be synced. There’s the likelihood that both the original and the edited versions will be seen.
Note that photos coming in from the Samsung Gallery Cloud Sync app won’t be included in certain Google Photos features, including Memories and highlights, Live albums and Search. You can overcome the limitation by just using the Google Photos app to sync them.
Owners of a 2026 Samsung Smart TV should check out its Google Photos integration. The Memories feature pulls images from your Google Photos library to show curated stories based on people, locations and meaningful moments.
The plan goes beyond the AI features as it also provides you with 5TB of cloud storage. As a result of the change, you’ll be able to use it more easily.
