Garmin recently announced that it was rolling out new software updates for several of its smartwatch models, which bring new features for the fēnix 8, Forerunner 570 and 970, Venu 4, vívoactive 6, as well as compatible Edge cycling computers.
One key addition with the update is support for fall detection for the Venu 4, which automatically transmits a live location message to preset emergency contacts if a hard impact is identified. Venu 4 users can enable the new feature for constant all-day monitoring or restrict it to select activities.

The updates also introduce hands-free voice control across supported models, which allow users to activate flashlights, start workouts, or even launch timers simply by saying “Okay, Garmin.” Garmin has also added tailored quick workouts with custom time and intensity settings, as well as expanded Garmin Run Coach plans that feature run-and-walk intervals, lower-volume options, and daily adjustments driven based on recovery metrics.
Additionally, the update brings a new Indoor XC Ski profile for dedicated tracking and support for indoor trainers.Meanwhile, cyclists using compatible Edge computers will be able to access enhanced Enduro ride profiles, which now automatically toggle between climbing and descent modes mid-ride.

Users can install the updates by enabling automatic updates and syncing through Garmin Connect, or by connecting their device to a computer via Garmin Express.
