Beats has announced its latest flagship over-ear headphones, the Beats 360, introducing something we haven’t seen from the brand before: interchangeable earcup and headband cushions. Launching in Australia at A$499.95, the Beats 360 sit at the top of the company’s headphone range and are designed to cover everything from commuting and office use to workouts and travel. Alongside the customisable design, Beats is promising its best sound, noise cancellation, and comfort yet in an over-ear headphone.
The Beats 360 are available to order now in Black, Cloud, Pink, and Sky, with retail availability beginning on 24 September.
The newest change with Beats 360 is the new interchangeable cushion system. Both the ear cushions and headband cushions can be removed and swapped for different colours or materials, allowing owners to change the look and feel of the headphones without replacing the entire unit.
Each Beats 360 comes with Performance Knit cushions as standard. These use memory foam wrapped in a breathable knitted material designed to provide better airflow and stability, particularly during exercise.
Beats is also offering UltraPlush cushions, made from the engineered leather material already used on the Beats Studio Pro and Beats Solo 4. These are positioned more towards longer listening sessions and everyday comfort.
Performance Knit cushion kits will be available in Black, Cloud, Pink, Sky, Navy, and Volt, while UltraPlush comes in Black and Cloud.
Being able to replace worn cushions is useful on its own, but Beats has clearly leaned into the fashion side as well by encouraging owners to mix colours and materials as they go through different activities. For a limited time in Australia, Beats 360 Cushion Kits will cost A$14.95, before moving to the regular A$79.95 price.
Inside, Beats 360 uses an entirely new acoustic architecture with custom drivers developed specifically for the headphones. Each driver uses a three-layer diaphragm and dual neodymium magnets, with Beats claiming improved bass response, greater detail, and lower distortion across the frequency range. The company is also calling this its most powerful Active Noise Cancelling system yet, with up to 1.75 times more total noise cancellation than the Beats Studio Pro.
Transparency mode is included for situations where you need to hear what is happening around you, while Adaptive EQ continuously adjusts frequencies depending on how the headphones are sitting on your head.
Personalised Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking is supported as well, using an accelerometer and gyroscope inside the left earcup to track head movement when listening to compatible music, movies, and other content.
Another addition is IPX4 sweat and water resistance, making the Beats 360 the first over-ear headphones from Beats to carry an official water-resistance rating. That means they are designed to cope with sweat, light rain, and splashes, although they obviously aren’t intended for swimming or full water immersion.
Beats 360 uses a custom Beats chip rather than an Apple H-series chip, allowing the headphones to offer deeper integration with both Apple and Android devices. For Apple users, features include one-touch pairing, always-on Hey Siri, automatic switching between devices, Audio Sharing, FaceTime with Spatial Audio, Personalised Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking, and Find My support. Android users get Fast Pair, Audio Switch, Find Hub integration, and other platform-specific features.
Beats 360 includes nine digital MEMS microphones across the headphones. Eight are used for Active Noise Cancellation, while three are involved in voice pickup, with some microphones shared between functions. For phone and video calls, Beats uses a dedicated beam-forming microphone alongside feed-forward microphones to focus on the wearer’s voice and reduce background noise. The system can also dynamically choose additional microphones when they provide a cleaner signal.
Beats claims up to 32 hours of battery life with Adaptive EQ enabled and ANC and Transparency switched off.

Beats 360 is available to order now in Australia for A$499.95 through Apple, with four launch colours: Black, Cloud, Pink, and Sky. Each colour includes matching Performance Knit earcup and headband cushions. In-store availability begins on 24 September.
Additional Beats 360 Cushion Kits are also available now. Performance Knit kits come in Black, Cloud, Pink, Sky, Navy, and Volt, while UltraPlush kits are available in Black and Cloud. Australian customers can initially pick up the cushion kits for $14.95 as part of a limited-time introductory offer, with the standard price set at $79.95.
Alongside the Beats 360 launch, Beats Studio Pro has also received a new Australian price of $479.95.
