Not too long ago, the folks behind GrapheneOS confirmed that they will be giving special priority to select upcoming Motorola smartphones, citing technical difficulties when working with Google’s Pixel 11 series devices. That in mind, the GrapheneOS team finally confirmed that the newly-launched Motorola Signature 27 will be the first Motorola flagship phone to receive upcoming GrapheneOS version updates.
For those unfamiliar with GrapheneOS, it’s essentially a custom Android software system which users can choose to install on their smartphones, to replace the existing version of Android which comes on their device. The biggest difference with GrapheneOS however is that it ditches Google apps in lieu of a more privacy-focused approach to software.
Additionally, while GrapheneOS was often made compatible for Pixel smartphones, Google’s latest Pixel 11 smartphones have proven a bit harder to work with, and as such the folks behind the platform are now shifting prioritize work on Motorola smartphones, especially those with Snapdragon chipsets inside.

With all that said however, GrapheneOS hasn’t revealed too much about its gameplan, although folks looking to stick to the platform will definitely want to check out the new Motorola phone once it launches.
