Apple’s 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 Max chip just dropped 15%, knocking a full $600 off a machine built for 8K editing and local AI.
Apple’s MacBook Pro 14-inch, configured with the M5 Max chip, drops from $4,099 to $3,499, a saving of $600 or 15% on a machine pairing an 18-core CPU and 32-core GPU with 36GB of memory and a 2TB SSD.

Sitting $100 under the $3,599 Apple set for the entry 14-inch M5 Max at launch, this deal means you pay less than launch pricing while still getting 36GB of memory and 2TB of storage without touching a single upgrade option.
Those savings add up quickly on a pro laptop. The $600 you keep could cover a high-resolution external monitor, and the M5 Max can run up to four of them at once for a full editing or coding desk.
Choosing the Max over the M5 Pro pays off for heavier work, as one of our tech experts compared the specs of both chips and found the M5 Max’s larger GPU should handle 8K video editing, 3D animation, and intensive gaming better.

Each of its 32 GPU cores also carries a Neural Accelerator, which Apple says delivers up to 4x faster LLM prompt processing than the M4 Max, so running AI models locally keeps pace with the rest of your workflow.
Backing that GPU is an 18-core CPU with six super cores, which Apple calls the world’s fastest CPU core, delivering up to 30% faster performance in pro workloads than the previous 16-inch MacBook Pro with M4 Max.
Everything around the chip in this MacBook Pro is built for that workload too, from three Thunderbolt 5 ports, 8K-capable HDMI, and an SDXC card slot to a 14.2-inch Liquid Retina XDR display reaching 1600 nits peak brightness for HDR editing.
For editors, 3D artists, and developers ready to invest in a pro machine, this MacBook Pro 14-inch with M5 Max saves you $600 and lands below Apple’s own launch starting price, with 36GB of memory and 2TB of storage included.
