Mafia III now runs at 60fps on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S through a free update for existing owners.
2K Games released the current-generation update without prior announcement, and players who already own the PS4 or Xbox One version can claim it at no extra cost through the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store on their newer console.
The upgrade lands close to the game’s tenth anniversary, since the game first arrived on PS4 and Xbox One in October 2016 with a 30fps target that the update now doubles alongside other technical improvements.
A definitive edition gathers the story content
Alongside the update, 2K has released Mafia III: Definitive Edition on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and the package combines the base game with the Faster, Baby!, Stones Unturned and Sign of the Times story expansions.
Those three expansions sit alongside the Family Kick-Back Pack and the Judge, Jury & Executioner Weapons Pack, which round out a bundle that gathers the game’s story and bonus content into one current-generation release.

The same edition also features in Mafia: The Omerta Collection, a recently released compilation that pairs Mafia III with fellow series entries Mafia, Mafia II and last year’s Mafia: The Old Country.
That collection spans the full mainline series, and Hangar 13 has led development on every entry since the third game, including the 2020 Definitive Edition remake that rebuilt the original 2002 release from the ground up.
PC fixes and a limited-time discount
PC players also benefit from the anniversary push, as the game’s Steam version is receiving a large patch that delivers a broad set of fixes, technical improvements and quality-of-life changes.
The 60fps update is available now on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S for existing PS4 and Xbox One owners, while new players can buy Mafia III at 80% off across digital storefronts, though 2K has not shared an end date for the discount.
