    Summary

    • People still haven’t gotten the ability to customize the taskbar on Windows 11.
    • Mikhail Parakhin installed 26H2, but found that taskbar customizations such as autohide and size controls aren’t available to him yet.
    • The rollout is gradual; some users have the new taskbar options, while others must wait.

Listen, sometimes you have to fight for the freedom to do something, even if you yourself would never think of doing it. I’m a “taskbar at the bottom” kind of guy, and while I would never dream of having it on the left, I will advocate for the ability to put it there, simply because having the option is better than not having it.

Well, for all your left taskbar fans, you’re in good company. An ex-CEO of Advertising for Microsoft has lamented that, despite updating to Windows 26H2, he still doesn’t have the option to move the taskbar to the left.

If you don’t have customizable taskbars yet, Mikhail Parakhin is right there with you

Here’s hoping he gets the feature soon

As spotted by Windows Latest, Mikhail Parakhin took to X to post about his experience with the newly released Windows 11 26H2 update. Despite it installing just fine, Parakhin didn’t get the taskbar feature, going so far as to say it’s “not usable yet.”

People in the replies pointed out that, while Windows 11 26H2 is generally available right now, not all of the features have completely rolled out. This includes the taskbar customization feature, which means some people can move the taskbar wherever they please, while others will be stuck with the old one for the time being. Still, it’s good to hear that Microsoft is finally adding this much-wanted feature, even if I’d never use it myself.
