The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time might not be Nintendo’s next Switch 2 exclusive (don’t worry Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, we haven’t forgotten about you), but the looming 5th November release date means that the marketing campaign is in full swing.

We’re getting new trailers, shorts and TV spots all over the place at the moment, and the new ‘Art thou ready?’ ad shared by Nintendo UK has left us sufficiently hyped and unexpectedly reminded of the N64 original’s ads back in the ’90s.

The new trailer (above) doesn’t feature any fresh footage, but the whole thing is extremely badass. You’ve got scenes from the game intercut with flaming text screens asking such questions as “Willst thou flee? Or fight?” while bombastic brass tunes blast in the background. Come on, how can that not leave you excited?

All of this riffs on the original release’s TV trailers, let’s not forget. Those employed a similarly OTT backing track (from Conan, no less), and used the same fire text flare, controversially boasting the tagline, “Willst thou get the girl? Or play like one?” — later changed to “Willst thou soar? Or willst thou suck?” for obvious reasons. We’ve linked one such OG trailer below, so you can see the similarities for yourself.

For a game like Ocarina of Time, it feels only fitting that Nintendo goes hard on the nostalgia for the marketing — who doesn’t get a bit misty-eyed thinking about their first time playing it, eh? Only a few weeks to go before we get to dive in all over again!

What do you make of this new throwback trailer? Let us know in the comments.
