My GOTY backlog grows by the day, with Pragmata, The Séance of Blake Manor, Well Dweller and more all sitting there waiting to be played. But who am I kidding? I didn’t attend that midnight launch for nothing.

There’s a part of me that wants to speed through the remake to see as many of the changes as possible before the year is up. There’s another part that wants nothing more than to take my time with it and play nothing else ever again. Decisions, decisions, eh?

    Gavin Lane, Editor

Look, obviously, I’ve got the cart. However, at the time of writing, it’s still sealed for a couple of reasons: 1) I was fortunate enough to play two hours pre-release, so I already know how good it looks and feels and I’m prolonging the excitement; and 2) we’re in the autumn section of Click Clock Wood in a Banjo playthrough and, being so close to the final quiz/battle with Grunty, I want to cap that off before diving into Hyrule with the kids.

GOTY is also approaching and I’m catching up with Requiem and Mixtape, and there’s a dozen other things on the backburner. How long can I resist the call of Kokiri Forest?

Hmmmm… I wonder what I’ll be playing this weekend? Surely it couldn’t be Ocarina of Time? Well, yes it will be. I still have some collectables to grab and medals I want to collect in the Zelda Notes app. Once I’ve made more progress in that, I am so tempted to return to my old OoT saves from the GameCube and 3DS games or even dabble with Majora’s Mask!

After going to the midnight launch in London, I left so inspired after chatting with fellow Hylians and like-minded superfans. Either way, the Zelda bug has taken a big ol’ chomp into me.

I will still be unlocking teams, skills and players in Tape to Tape this weekend. I also plan to start Eve’s epic journey in Stellar Blade Complete Edition. Being a huge fan of the series, it is quite unfortunate I failed to notice the release of Earth Defense Force 5 on Switch 2, but thankfully, NL readers recommendations saved the day, and I am once again quite hooked on blasting giant ants and spiders (I haven’t even unlocked any mechs yet!). Looking forward to E.D.F. 6 next year.

My game of the Week is NOT The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Yes, I too will be enjoying this quality remake while fondly remembering how simpler life was 28 years ago, but having one of my favourite GameCube games re-released with a brand new Unreal Engine 5 coat of paint is proving far too enticing. Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee Remastered is my game of the week, and since there was also a surprise Switch 1 release, everyone should be able to (re)discover the joys of smashing a building into King Ghidorah (and do remember to ask the faeries for Mothra’s help, even if that sounds primitive and unscientific).

    Alex Olney, Senior Video Producer

    Take a wild guess.

    Ollie Reynolds, Reviews Editor

I’ve played a hell of a lot of Ocarina of Time recently, so I’m actually keen to play literally anything else. I’ve got my eye on Queen’s Domain: I’ve heard great things about it, and the visual style really speaks to me.

I also recently picked up Alone in the Dark via the PS5’s Black Friday sale, so I’d like to give that a go at some point. Some of the more middling reviews put me off in 2024, but with the cheeky discount, it’s about time I dive in. After jogging around Hyrule for so long, I’m ready for some comforting survival horror.

Those are our plans, but what about yours? Let us know what you’ll be slapping in your Switch (2) in the poll below.
