According to Honor, the Magic9 series is set to launch in September, with a recent leak suggesting that the company could unveil two models at the event. Now, a tipster claims that the Magic9 Pro could be the first Android smartphone to feature a square selfie sensor.

Tipster Digital Chat Station claims that the upcoming Honor Magic9 Pro, which is expected to be powered by the yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset, will be the first Android phone to feature a 1:1 square front-facing camera sensor.

The Honor Magic8 Pro featured a 50MP selfie camera and a TOF 3D sensor

On the rear, the Magic9 Pro is tipped to feature a 200MP 1/1.28-inch primary sensor with an f/1.57 aperture and 3 degree optical image stabilization (OIS).

The rear camera setup is also expected to include a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 200MP 1/1.4-inch periscope telephoto sensor. Additionally, the phone is said to offer ARRI videography features, similar to the Honor Robot Phone.

Previous rumors have also suggested that the upcoming Oppo Find X10 series could feature a square selfie sensor. However, the Find X10 lineup is reportedly not expected to launch until October.
