After only a week of release, the creative team behind new vampire RPG The Blood of Dawnwalker have revealed they’re already thinking about the series’ next steps.
As per InsiderGaming, developer Rebel Wolves’ Narrative Director Jakub Szamałek shared on LinkedIn that the studio is already beginning the pre-production phase of a new entry in the Dawnwalker saga, believed to be a direct sequel. The team is hiring a Lead Writer to work alongside Szamałek and help craft the new story, along with other assumed openings as the studio aims to capitalize on its huge success.
The news comes only days after The Blood of Dawnwalker launched on September 3 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Within that short time, the game has already surpassed 1 million copies sold and racked up a litany of glowing reviews which praised its sprawling open-world, timed quest mechanics and high-quality graphics.
Rebel Wolves’ Narrative Director Jakub Szamałek shared on LinkedIn that the studio is already beginning the pre-production phase of a new entry in the Dawnwalker saga.
Rebel Wolves is made up of former CD Projekt Red veterans, best known for their Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 series, and the team includes the co-creators of The Witcher 3, which explains why some gameplay elements may feel so similar to that 2015 classic title.
It seems the team are looking to launch a new RPG franchise to directly compete with The Witcher, whose fourth entry is currently in the midst of being built at CD Projekt Red studios in Poland. First, the team will release a huge new expansion for The Witcher 3, as well as a remastered edition of that title onto modern platforms.

What Fans Loved About Blood of Dawnwalker
Owing to the runaway success of The Blood of Dawnwalker, it’s no surprise that Rebel Wolves have already begun laying the groundwork for a new adventure featuring cursed protagonist Coen. The game has received glowing feedback for a variety of innovations that have set it apart from competitors in the crowded RPG market.
Set in the 14th century gothic valley of Vale Sangora during the Black Death, the game directly draws its influences from Romanian folklore and the haunting Carpathian Mountains. Main character Coen is a Dawnwalker after a failed turning—human by day, vampire by night.
This divide offers unique gameplay loops, with Coen having to rely on swordplay and alchemy during daylight hours, before being empowered with vampiric capabilities after sunset. During nighttime hours, Coen is able to move at supernatural speed and inflict brutal violence against enemies, but also must manage a growing blood thirst and hostile reactions from NPCs.
Game choices also have a serious impact on the story, with the death of certain allies and enemies bringing permanent consequences that can upend plans. Players must budget 30-day time limits for quests, which adds extra pressure and forces players to budget their in-game hours carefully.

What Might A Bloodwalker Sequel Look Like?
No spoilers, but the ending of The Blood of Dawnwalker leaves open the possibility of Coen finding himself in new eras and locations in the future. Owing to the character’s immortality and with such a unique premise, the sky is truly the limit for Rebel Wolves, and they could take Coen really anywhere.
The game’s dual combat systems and time-limited quest features are likely to return, as fans would find them integral to any franchise instalment. Due to the dark, gothic themes of vampirism, fans can expect more of this tone in future titles too—be it in 18th century America or 21st century Europe. Just look at the number of vampire stories set across almost all time periods in human history… the material is there, for sure.
While recruitment is underway for a Lead Writer to assist with the tasks of world-building, designing new quests and developing character arcs, it’s prudent to remind fans that a sequel is still likely years away. Ahead of that, fans are likely to receive major updates and DLC content for the original Dawnwalker game to quench their thirst for new content while the team cooks up a fresh story.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is available now on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
