In what could be described as an absolute win for online video creators, Insta360 recently announced the launch of the new Luna Pro, a new Leica-engineered gimbal camera which Insta360 says is designed for lifestyle content makers and professional videographers alike.
At the core of the Luna Pro is a 1-inch 8K sensor paired with a Leica Summicron lens, supported by a dual-chip architecture that combines a dedicated imaging chip with a 4nm flagship processor. The camera comes with a rotatable 2-inch OLED touchscreen, and can record native 4K30fps vertical video with 6K oversampling, in addition to 8K Dolby Vision recording. It also supports 4K120fps slow motion, 2x lossless zoom, and 4x HighRes Zoom.
For handling and workflow, the camera comes with 3-axis stabilization and AI-powered Deep Track and Rapid Focus, slide-to-start recording, and twist-to-shoot controls. On paper, Insta360 says that it can last for up to four hours of battery on a single charge, which we suppose isn’t too bad for regular usage.
Other features include 47GB of internal storage which should come in handy should you forget to bring along an SD card, and easy integration with the Insta360 Mic Series. Creators also get access to dedicated Leica color profiles, 10-bit I-Log for professional grading, built-in timecode, and NFC-enabled smartphone pairing.
