Gut Reaction: ‘Want that one, that one, that one…

We’re deep into silly season now, and there’s so much to choose from. I’ve got me eye on Maestro, the free Switch 2 update for Moomintroll, and Monowave, but then there’s Dragon Quest Heroes: Torneko’s Mystery Dungeon, Trails in the Sky (never played a Trails, but would love to), Fountains, Sniper Dan (check out Steam Hype’s interview), and also Woodo, which I nuked from the list as it appeared last week, but is out now. Keep an eye out for our review of that.

Plus Fire Emblem, of course. How many hours in a week, again?

EXTRA EXTRA! Three discounted Switch eShop games to investigate this week…

None of the above floating your boat? Here’s a trio of intriguing old games on sale – not necessarily The Best™ or The Highest Scoring™, but Switch games that still deserve your attention, especially in a sale.

    A Monster’s Expedition – $19.99 $5.99 until 6th October

An “open-world puzzle adventure” we didn’t manage to review back in 2021, I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. Our friends over at Push Square loved it, so it’s likely a winner on Switch.

    Card Shark – $19.99 $2.99 until 6th October

A brilliant card game with WarioWare-like elements from indie dev Nerial, it’s an absolute steal for three bucks.

    DOOM (not 2016) – $19.99 $3.99 until 26th September

Scully gave this an 8/10 when he reviewed it for us back in 2019 – a thoroughly appropriate and respectable score for Nerve Software’s original Unity port at launch. Since then, though, this thing was updated up the wazoo, and then full-on delisted and replaced with Nightdive’s updated ‘KEX’ version, the only version available now (and free to anyone who bought the original).

If you don’t own OG Doom on Switch… you really should.
