GTA 6 Activities You Can Spend Money On: Every Confirmed and Expected Money Sink

Rockstar confirmed on August 28, 2026, that GTA 6 launches without microtransactions in single-player. Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, said the main campaign carries “no monetisations,” meaning every dollar you burn through in Leonida comes from missions, heists, and side hustles, not your wallet. With the game arriving November 19, 2026, pre-order pricing and editions are already locked in, and that no-microtransaction promise changes what “spending money” actually means this time around.

GTA 5’s single-player economy ran dry fast. Finish enough missions and Michael, Franklin, and Trevor had little left to buy beyond a handful of properties and cars. GTA Online later swung to the opposite extreme: inflation pushed item prices into the tens of millions while payouts barely moved. Rockstar has pointed to GTA 6’s 700-plus enterable shops and locations as the fix, and trailers already show far more places to drop cash than the last game offered.

Below is every activity and purchase Rockstar has confirmed or strongly signaled, sorted by how solid the evidence is.

No Microtransactions in Single-Player, at Least for Now

Nelson’s statement applies only to the base campaign. GTA Online, the multiplayer side, gets no such promise, and Rockstar has never shipped an online mode without a Shark Card-style currency. The $80 standard edition also isn’t the full picture: the $100 Ultimate Edition gates exclusive single-player missions, unique vehicles, and specialized weapon variants behind that extra $20, so paid content exists even without a microtransaction storefront.

Everything below assumes the single-player rules Rockstar has actually confirmed. Where a detail comes from a leak rather than an official source, it’s labeled that way.

Confirmed and Expected GTA 6 Activities You Can Spend Money on

    1. Weapons and Gear at Ammu-Nation

    • Status: Confirmed
    • What it costs you: In-game cash for guns, melee weapons, and attachments
    • Source: Official trailers

Ammu-Nation returns as a gun store chain across the map. Trailers already show a wide range of confirmed weapons, and buying and upgrading them will likely remain one of the biggest recurring cash sinks, same as every prior GTA.

    2. Safehouses and Garages

    • Status: Partially confirmed
    • What it costs you: Unknown, but likely a straight cash purchase for anything beyond story-given safehouses
    • Source: Trailer footage and pre-order bonuses

Rockstar has shown the Starlet Motel safehouse in Port Gellhorn and a Leonida Keys safehouse tied to Jason and Lucia’s story. Shore Court Garage is a pre-order bonus, and Paradise Garage comes locked to the Ultimate Edition. Rockstar hasn’t confirmed a full purchasable property list yet, but every mainline GTA since San Andreas has let you buy extra real estate, so it would be a surprise if GTA 6 dropped the mechanic.

    3. Vehicle Customization and Dealerships

    • Status: Confirmed
    • What it costs you: Purchase price plus mods
    • Source: Trailers and gameplay footage

Car dealerships and showrooms appear in the world, alongside customization shops for modifying vehicles. Gas stations double as repair points, another small but constant drain on your cash.

    4. Businesses as Criminal Fronts

    • Status: Leaked, unconfirmed
    • What it costs you: Unknown, expected to scale with property type
    • Source: 2022 leaked development footage and later trailer analysis

Leaked material points to nightclubs, studios, and other legitimate-looking businesses functioning as fronts for laundering illegal cash, echoing GTA Online’s nightclub and Cayo Perico setups. Rockstar hasn’t detailed how this works in GTA 6, so treat it as informed speculation until confirmed.

    5. Recreational Activities

    • Status: Confirmed
    • What it costs you: Entry fees or equipment, based on past GTA titles
    • Source: Trailers

Trailers show mini golf, pool, basketball, gym workouts, and a cage fight involving Lucia. Hunting and fishing also make an appearance, likely borrowed from Red Dead Redemption 2’s systems. None of these carry confirmed prices yet, but past games have charged for equipment, lessons, or entry.

    6. Salons and Style Customization

    • Status: Confirmed
    • What it costs you: Cash for haircuts, makeup, and outfit changes
    • Source: Official feature rundowns

Salons handle hair and makeup, separate from clothing stores for outfits. Character customization has cost money in every open-world GTA since San Andreas, and nothing suggests that changes here.

    7. Nightlife and Dates

    • Status: Confirmed
    • What it costs you: Cover charges, drinks, jet ski rentals
    • Source: Trailers

Jason and Lucia are shown clubbing, jet skiing, and going on dates together. These sequences read as story beats first, but the venues themselves (clubs, rental counters) point to spendable activities layered into the open world.

Money Laundering and Business Tiers, If the Leaks Hold Up

Leaked 2022 footage and years of trailer analysis point toward a three-tier money system: street-level crimes like store robberies, mid-tier operations such as bank heists and drug smuggling, and upper-tier legitimate businesses that launder the proceeds. A recent gameplay leak ahead of the Netflix stream added more detail to this picture, though Rockstar still hasn’t confirmed the system officially.

If this holds, GTA 6 would import GTA Online’s heist logic (plan a job, pay setup costs, collect a scaled reward) into single-player. GTA Online already runs this model well; the Kortz Center Heist, for instance, has its own requirements, entry cost, and payout structure. A single-player version of that loop would finally solve GTA 5’s “nothing left to spend on” problem.

    Final Thoughts

None of this is final until Rockstar ships the game on November 19, 2026. The no-microtransaction promise for single-player is the one hard commitment so far, and it sets a clear boundary: money sinks in the main campaign will be earned, not bought.

GTA Online remains the open question, and how Rockstar prices that mode will say a lot about whether GTA 6 breaks from the Shark Card era or extends it.

    Will GTA 6 have microtransactions?

Not in single-player. Rockstar confirmed on August 28, 2026, that the main campaign has no real-money purchases. GTA Online’s monetization hasn’t been detailed yet.

How many shops can you spend money in across GTA 6?

Rockstar has referenced more than 700 enterable shops and locations, though not all of these will involve spending cash.

Can you buy businesses in GTA 6?

Not officially confirmed. Leaked development footage points to nightclubs and other businesses acting as fronts for laundering money, similar to GTA Online, but Rockstar hasn’t detailed this system for the final game.

Is the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition worth the extra $20?

It depends on how much you value exclusive single-player missions, unique vehicles, and specialized weapon variants, since those are the confirmed extras gated behind the Ultimate Edition.

Will GTA Online have Shark Cards in GTA 6?

Rockstar’s no-microtransactions statement applies only to single-player. Every prior GTA Online has used a paid currency, so expect GTA 6’s online mode to follow the same pattern unless Rockstar says otherwise.
