TCL recently announced the launch of its new 11-inch TAB A1 and TAB A1 NXTPAPER tablets, which offer a slimmer, more portable alternative to the company’s larger 12.2-inch tablet models. Priced at $189.99 and $249.99 respectively, the new models are available now on Amazon and TCL.com.

That in mind, both tablets are rather slim, and measure just 0.24 inches thick and weigh under a pound. Inside, the TAB A1 and TAB A1 NXTPAPER share core specifications, such as a MediaTek Helio G100 processor, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, and an 8000mAh battery with 20W charging support. They are also equipped with a 5MP front-facing lens for video calls and an 8MP rear camera. That’s where the differences end, however.

For one, the more expensive TAB A1 NXTPAPER is built more for productivity and eye comfort, and uses TCL’s NXTPAPER 3A Crystal technology to give users a “paper-like” viewing experience that on paper (no pun intended) can reduce strain during extended screen time. It also comes bundled with a T-Pen 2 stylus and a protective flip case for note-taking and annotating.

Meanwhile, the standard TAB A1 is geared primarily towards media consumption on the go, although it swaps the paper-like display for an 11-inch screen with a 2.1K resolution and a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. The tablet also includes quad stereo speakers for a more immersive listening experience.
