Can you combat dust mites and still maintain your privacy? A question that you have probably never had, but should have.

Robot vacuums have faced privacy issues in the past, which is something that Ecovacs is taking on with the Deebot X12S OmniCyclone that it showed at IFA.

    Giving you some cover

The Deebot X12S OmniCyclone has a privacy shield that you can close over its camera.

“A cover you can see is easier to trust, because you can look at it,” said Michelle Jones, associate brand marketing director at Ecovacs Americas. “As these robots take in more of the home, people will want to ensure they have their privacy.”

While the cover makes sure that it’s not seeing anything it shouldn’t when it’s not working, the vacuum is designed to take care of things you can’t see: dust mites.

The dirty truth about dust mites

It’s certified to remove an average of 97.44% of dust mite allergens and 95.45% of dust mites from carpet.

Dust mites are microscopic, insect-like creatures that don’t just feed on the skin cells humans shed, I am sorry to say, they are also responsible for allergies in people through both their bodies and their droppings, I am even sorrier to say.

The Deebot X12S OmniCyclone has 53 air watts of suction to get up dust mites and a sealed dust-mite carpet chamber that pushes down into the pile of carpeting. A returned fan and airway pull out dust.

    On sale now

Unlike most products at IFA, which are launching months or more down the line, the Deebot X12S OmniCyclone is available today in the US.

It sells for $1,299.99, but from Sept. 4 to Sept. 11, there’s an Amazon launch deal for $999.99. From Sept. 12 through Sept 18, the price will be $1,099.99.
