Hello, PlayStation players! Today we revealed that Muramasa: Revenant Blades, the stunning Japanese-inspired action-RPG from Vanillaware and Marvelous, will launch on February 4, 2027.

Along with the release date, we also shared a new gameplay video that offers a closer look at the game’s exciting features, from exhilarating sword-fighting action to character progression and more. We know you’ve been looking forward to learning more about this gorgeous action game since it was announced, and we’re thrilled to be able to share more about what’s in store in Muramasa: Revenant Blades.

    The ultimate Muramasa

The visually striking Japanese-inspired action RPG Muramasa: Rebirth, originally released for PlayStation Vita, and its side-story DLC, Genroku Legends, have been combined and further refined into a single, complete experience.

Its beautiful and fantastical world has been revitalized in gorgeous high-definition. Alongside improvements to its deep and engaging sword-fighting action, new features, like the all-new English voice over, have been added to enhance the experience. Whether you’re discovering the game for the first time or returning as a fan of the original, Muramasa: Revenant Blades offers a fresh perspective on this epic adventure.

Six stories unfold in a mysterious world

Set in Japan during the Genroku era, a time when supernatural phenomena run rampant, Revenant Blades features six different playable protagonists, each with their own circumstances, goals, and journeys.

From one who is possessed by the cursed sword Muramasa, to another who swears to avenge their master, and one who pursues love with unwavering passion, each protagonist has a unique story to tell. With each tale standing on its own, you’re free to experience all six in any order you choose. Discover six distinct tales as they unfold across a beautiful world steeped in the supernatural.

Exhilarating sword-fighting action with intuitive controls and graceful movement

Chain normal attacks together to naturally unleash combos, then mix in dashes and jumps for even more exhilarating combat as you move fluidly across the ground and the air.

You can also parry enemy attacks, and with the right timing, even deflect ranged attacks. Muramasa’s controls are easy to grasp, yet offer plenty of depth for veteran players, giving everyone an opportunity to perform spectacular sword-fighting moves.

Skills are the key to battle

Unleash powerful single strikes, wide-area attacks, ranged attacks, all with a single button press. Combine them with normal attacks to overwhelm your enemies with relentless combos.

Refine your swords, hone your skills, and develop your own unique fighting style

With the help of the swordsmith Muramasa, Kisuke and Momohime can forge new swords imbued with powerful skills.

Alternatively, Okoi, Gonbe, Arashimaru, and Rajaki, can undergo training to learn new skills and create charms that grant special effects to their different forms or weapons.

Through further forging and training, you’ll unlock new swords and skills, improve your stats, and steadily grow stronger. Both require souls obtained from defeated enemies, so collect as many as you can as you make your way through the adventure.

Expand your tactical options by mastering skills, freely switching between them in battle.

As Kisuke and Momohime use swords imbued with skills in combat, they‘ll be able to master those techniques. You can assign up to three mastered skills for both ground and aerial combat, and switch between them freely with the directional pad. The more you use any skill, the more proficient you become, increasing its potency.

Experiment with different combinations to learn the strengths they offer, and find the pairings that suit your playstyle.

New features to explore and a classic experience to relive

This title features a variety of supplemental content, including the Scroll, a gallery packed with illustrations, a Character Viewer, where you can admire character animations and backgrounds, and a Replay mode that lets you relive events from your journey.

In addition to the renewed experience, there’s also a classic mode featuring the PlayStation Vita versions of Muramasa: The Demon Blade and Genroku Legends.

Experience these nostalgic adventures with the original gameplay experience, now with beautifully enhanced graphics.
