Big changes are coming to the Galaxy S series early next year as the brand is expected to launch four Galaxy S27 series phones. According to reports, two of those models (the Galaxy S27 Pro and the Galaxy S27 Ultra) will receive the biggest OLED display upgrade in three years.
Furthermore, ETNews reports that the Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra will feature Samsung Display’s M16 OLED panels. This is the first time in three years that Samsung’s MX (mobile) division is upgrading to a new OLED material for its Galaxy S devices. Also, the two devices will utilise panels with Colour Filter-on-Encapsulation (COE) and Privacy Display technology.
However, reports show that the Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ will use M14 OLED material, an upgrade from the M13 material featured in the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+. Thus, M16 is Samsung Display’s most advanced OLED material yet. It provides higher peak brightness, improved power efficiency, better colour accuracy, and a longer lifespan. It’s already utilised in the recently launched iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, as well as Google’s Pixel 11 and Vivo’s iQOO 16.
Regarding size, reports indicate that the Galaxy S27 will feature a 6.27-inch screen, while the Galaxy S27+ will come with a 6.66-inch display. Additionally, the Galaxy S27 Pro, at 6.47 inches, features a smaller footprint than the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s 6.89-inch panel.
