Dynasty Warriors producer Tomohiko Sho says he’d rather spend what’s left of his career making new games than more remasters of his old ones.
Sho isn’t ruling future remasters out entirely, but he’s not volunteering for the job either. Asked by 4Gamer (machine-translated) about the prospect shortly after Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered launched on Switch 2, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, he made it clear that whether or not the series gets another remaster depends on how well this release performs, and hinted he’d personally prefer not to be the one making it.

“I can’t say anything at the moment, and I haven’t even thought about it, but it’s not impossible that we’ll remaster titles that aren’t available on Steam,” he said (thanks, IG).
“However, to be honest, I don’t want to do it. It would be almost a complete remake, and even this time I sometimes thought, ‘Why am I remaking something I made myself?’ I’m in my fifties now, and I sometimes think about ‘how many more games can I make before I retire’, so I’d rather make new games or sequels.”
However, he’s not against future remasters, either. Sho says he still feels an obligation to the fans who want more remasters, and hints he may hand the job to someone else on the team while he gets on with new games and sequels.
Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered freshens up the original PlayStation 2 game, one of the franchise’s earliest entries, in Unreal Engine 5 to mark its 25th anniversary. It’s out now on Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Steam reviews currently suggest fan feedback has been ‘Very Positive’.
