Bazzite 45 is here, and it brings support for meeting Epic’s new Linux anti-cheat system requirements

    Summary

    • EAC Linux v2 uses Linux’s built‑in security (no kernel‑level driver), enabling more Linux-based online games.
    • Bazzite 45 adds Epic’s signing key and a ‘ujust check-anticheat’ command to verify EAC v2 readiness.
    • Don’t enable kernel lockdown on handhelds or Secure Boot on Steam Deck; wait for Bazzite guidance.

If you love online gaming on Linux, you’ll likely already know about Epic’s new EAC Linux v2. This will allow more Linux gamers to play games secured with Easy Anti-Cheat protections by removing the kernel-level software and utilizing Linux’s built-in security systems instead.

The bad news is, you need to meet quite a few requirements for EAC Linux v2 to work on your system. The good news is, Bazzite 45 has made it very easy to check, and the new version has already been given a signing key from Epic itself.

Bazzite 45 comes with EAC v2 checks and Epic’s blessing

A good mix for anyone interested in online gaming with Linux

You can check out the announcement of Bazzite 45 over on its Universal Blue thread. The new version introduces Fedora 45 into the mix, with your choice of either GNOME 51.1 or KDE 6.8.2. It also introduces initial support for the Acer Predator Atlas 8, and adds Ally X20 compatibility to the stable branch.

However, my highlight from these patch notes has to do with Epic’s EAC Linux v2 launch. Bazzite is designed around being a gaming distro, so any and all news about getting Epic Games multiplayer titles working on it is pretty important. Fortunately, things are looking very good for Bazzite users:

“Epic recently announced that their Easy Anti Cheat is getting a v2 launch on Linux that will bring support for Fortnite and other games! They were kind enough to make us one of the accepted well-known signing keys. Further discussions are underway, but in the meantime we’ve added a ujust readiness check for users that want to ensure they’re ready early.”

Bazzite 45 even comes with a new command. Just type “ujust check-anticheat” into your console, and Bazzite will double-check to see if your PC is set up properly to run EAC Linux v2 when it launches.

There are two caveats: first, if you’re on a handheld, you shouldn’t enable kernel lockdown just yet. Second, if you’re on a Steam Deck, you shouldn’t enable Secure Boot. Both of these are part of Epic’s requirements for EAC Linux v2, so the above command will likely ask you to enable them on your handheld; instead, hold on tight for further advice from the Bazzite team as they work on ironing out all the issues.
