Capcom announced that Resident Evil Veronica – a remake of Code: Veronica – has achieved an impressive milestone well before it’s even out. The game has topped 2 million wishlists across PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox and Switch 2.

Capcom revealed the news in a post on X, thanking players for their enthusiasm, and casually dropping links for the game’s store pages across the different platforms.

Though far from having a one-to-one ratio with sales, wishlists are increasingly becoming an important metric. It helps publishers gauge interest, and on platforms like Steam, boosts the game’s visibility and discoverability across the store.

Resident Evil Veronica, set for release sometime in 2027, was announced in June as a remake of the divisive Code: Veronica. Despite being a spin-off that never reached the heights of the numbered sequels, Code: Veronica has attained something of a cult following in the years since.

When Capcom began more steadily remaking its Resident Evil back catalogue, many of Code: Veronica’s fans called on the developer to remake it. They finally got their wish when the game was announced this year at Summer Game Fest.

The even better news is the upcoming remake is led by core members of the development team from the Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 remakes, which have turned out really well. In particular, Veronica takes cues from Resident Evil 2, with Capcom confirming a third-person perspective for the entire experience.

As for why Capcom dropped the “Code” part of the original game’s name, the developer explained it simply wanted a sharper, more direct title. Indeed, this is not the only thing being changed for this remake: the story is also being tweaked to better fit within the broader Resident Evil narrative, which has been evolving in both the mainline sequels and modern remakes.
