Philips’ AmbiScape now available across its Ambilight TVs

TP Vision has already launched full AmbiScape, room-wide smart lighting on 2026 Philips Ambilight TVs from the 8000 Series upward.

AmbiScape connects and controls up to four compatible smart lights over Matter over Wi-Fi, a setup that extends the colours and movement of Ambilight from the screen into the room.

The supported range currently includes E27 smart bulbs, and viewers can mix and match up to four lights from different brands within a single setup, rather than being tied to one manufacturer’s ecosystem.

That flexibility builds on Ambilight‘s standing as the defining feature of Philips televisions, with more than 80% of existing Ambilight owners insisting their next TV must include it, a loyalty rate few brands can match.

Owners set up AmbiScape through the Philips Smart TV app, then activate it from the TV’s on-screen quick menu or its Ambilight settings and follow step-by-step prompts to connect each light and assign it a position in the room.

Each connected light can sync with on-screen content in video or music mode, or hold a single static colour chosen by the user, and the response arrives with low enough latency to keep the room in step with the action.

AmbiScape first appeared as a limited trial on selected 2025 models, when setup required manual configuration through the TV menu rather than a guided app process.

TP Vision plans to introduce Matter over Thread support in the first half of 2027, with the feature debuting on the upcoming 2027 Ambilight TV models first before coming to compatible 2026 sets later.

“Ambilight has always made the TV experience feel bigger and more immersive, and many of our customers tell us they would like to bring that experience further into the room,” said Anette van Dijk, Head of Marketing Europe at TP Vision.

Van Dijk also pointed to the planned Matter over Thread rollout as a way to widen that choice even further, alongside TP Vision’s separate work on raising the current four-light limit.
