Apple’s Pro and Tell experience week is here, and it’s already off to a strong start, with the new iPad Mini unveiled on Monday morning. But there’s more to come: We’re also expecting refreshes and changes to the iMac and MacBook Pro lineups, including a long-anticipated touchscreen laptop.
Apple’s had a busy few months, launching the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max in September alongside the Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4 and the AirPods 5, followed by the iPhone Duo launch at the end of last week. Apple’s smart home lineup, revealed during its recent Welcome Home event, is up next: the HomePod Mini 2 will launch on Friday; the Apple HomeView and Apple TV 4K on Nov. 13; and availability for the Home Collection products begins in December.
This week will culminate with Apple hosting a special event on Wednesday, and CNET will be on the ground capturing all the latest details. But ahead of that, here’s what we’re expecting to see from the tech giant, and we’ll update this piece as more details are revealed.
Apple’s new iPad Mini
Announced on Monday, Apple’s new iPad Mini is available to preorder on Wednesday and will go on sale Nov. 6. It starts at $699 for 128GB of storage, $799 for 256GB and $999 for 512GB.
Setting it apart from the last iPad Mini, which came out two years ago, the new tablet has an 8.5-inch OLED screen (versus an LCD), IP67 water and dust resistance, an Apple A20 processor, a repositioned front-facing camera and a through-screen speaker system called Acoustic Display, as well as being thinner and lighter than before.
A new iMac
We don’t yet know what’s coming for the rest of this week, but one heavily rumored product is a new iMac, which we’re expecting to be updated with an M6 chip, just like the Mac Mini. The current generation of iMac was last updated in 2024.
It’s likely the new iMac will be announced Tuesday morning.
MacBook Pro refresh
We’re anticipating several MacBook Pro updates this week, including an OLED touchscreen version.
“I’m expecting a 14-inch MacBook Pro to get updated with the M6 chip,” CNET Managing Editor Josh Goldman says. “I’m not sure the 16-inch will get that, since it usually doesn’t get a base M-series chip. My feeling is they’ll probably hold off on that until next year, when they can add the M6 Pro/Max chips.”
Goldman added that he’s expecting the 14- and 16-inch OLED touchscreen models will still be based on the M5 Pro/Max chips, however.
The MacBook Pro chip upgrade announcement could hit Tuesday morning, to be followed on Wednesday by the new touchscreen versions of Apple’s highest-end laptop.
And as for the iPhone Duo launch last week, check out CNET’s ongoing folding test — you can watch Day 1 of the livestream here and tune in on Tuesday as we continue testing how many times the iPhone Duo can fold without cracking in the CNET lab.
