Google introduces the Android Debug Bridge (ADB). This feature favours both mobile app developers and normal users. Regular users use it for things that the normal UI doesn’t permit, for instance, disabling certain apps, running scrcpy, and so on. Other users use it for big data transfers instead of doing it over MTP.

It’s interesting to know that Google just introduced Android Debug Bridge Wi-Fi 2.0. This new version reworks the three core components of the system, thereby making it faster and more reliable.

First of all, it’s the ADB server. With the old version, the ADB connection would be dropped when the network configuration changed or when the device was turned off. Google replaced the old mDNS stack to make connections more reliable.

Then, it’s the ADB Daemon. The old mDNS would occasionally drop connections between your computer and the Android device. The new one automatically disables connections when your computer and device are connected over an untrusted network and then re-enables them when you’re back on a trusted network.

Then again, Android Studio provides better discoverability. After you enable wireless debugging on the device, it’s expected to appear in Android Studio’s Device Manager.

According to Google, ADB Wi-Fi 2.0 offers 66% faster connection speeds for 90% of connections and auto-connection rates are 32% higher. Also, ADB Wi-Fi 2.0 can be used with phones, tablets, wearOS watches and Android TVs.
