For some years, Samsung’s Exynos mobile processors went out of favour for the company’s flagship devices, though over the past year the condition changed. Samsung returned Exynos chipsets for some of its flagship devices. This increased the chipset’s share in global smartphone chipset shipments to its highest level since 2024.
According to the latest data from Counterpoint Research, Exynos application processors from Samsung made up 9% of all global smartphone chipset shipments in the second quarter of this year. And it’s at the highest level since the data started to be compiled in 2024. It’s 2% points from the first quarter of this year and 3% points from the same period a year ago.
Furthermore, the brand is utilizing the Exynos 2600 chipset in some models of the Galaxy S26 series. It has continued the use of its Exynos chips in mid-range devices. This trend continued with the Galaxy A57 and the Galaxy A37 of this year.
Taiwan-based MediaTek provides Dimensity and Helio chipsets for a wide range of premium and mid-range devices. As a result, it maintains the top position. During the second quarter, it had a 31% market share. Qualcomm took second place with a 23% market share and Apple was third place with a 19% market share.
