Google Photos is currently testing a new privacy control that allows users to wipe stored interactions and personal information retained by its artificial intelligence. An analysis of the latest Google Photos APK reveals a dedicated “Delete All” button built directly into the Ask Photos feature, providing an efficient way to clear conversational history and user data.

Powered by Gemini AI, Ask Photos allows users to perform natural-language queries, search complex gallery contents, and apply image edits through conversational text prompts. To refine future interactions and enhance search accuracy over time, the system compiles a dedicated memories list that logs personal context, preferences, and details gathered during everyday use.

While this memory mechanism improves search relevance, it has prompted privacy concerns regarding the storage of personal and sensitive photo metadata.

Under the current stable interface, individuals seeking to remove these records must manually review and delete each logged entry one by one. The emerging “Delete All” control simplifies this workflow into a single command. Once triggered, the interface prompts the user for final confirmation before permanently erasing all stored chat interactions, associated image metadata, and contextual records. Completing this action effectively resets the Ask Photos tool back to its initial state.

Because the capability was uncovered during an APK teardown, the feature remains under internal testing and is not yet accessible to the public on stable builds. Google has not provided an official timeline or rollout schedule for when the update will deploy across general consumer channels.

The development coincides with broader updates to the media management platform. Google has recently addressed reports of an Android crash bug affecting select devices while navigating negative user feedback surrounding changes to cloud backup settings and reduced retention periods for items stored in the photo trash bin. The upcoming data deletion switch highlights ongoing efforts to provide transparent user control over automated AI learning within cloud services.
