Paralives’ first major update slips to next year, but when it comes you can expect some pretty meaty improvements for all of its main features

Since launch back in May of this year, life sim Paralives appears to have been trucking along nicely, with the dev team offering up fairly regular updates with all sorts of tweaks big and small. Certainly confidence-inspiring for an early access game, especially one as systems-driven as it is. And now, the Paralives team have outlined their plans for the game’s first major update, which seem very catered to improving the core experience.

As part of a four point plan they outlined, first up on the docket is “buffing up the basics.” This is all about strengthening some of the currently existing Live Mode systems. That means improvements to how relationships function by unlocking more things when a relationship level goes up, adding in more interactions that change your Para’s emotions, improving the Community Centre’s bundles and tweaking the economy curve so it isn’t as easy to get money.

The next point is on expanding the Live Mode, meaning the addition of a pair of new skills, adding in more together and story cards, new relationship label unlockables, and more jobs too. Build Mode will also see some improvements, with a big focus on build breaking bugs. You can also expect new bits of furniture and items, and a tweak to furniture and item efficiency.

Lastly, there are also planned improvements to the Paramaker. One is by adding in more hairstyles and clothing items, notably baggy outfits, and the other is increasing the range of fat and muscle sliders “to represent a wider variety of body shapes.” As a bigger person myself I’m always enthused when character creators actually let you have a fat body, so this is a welcome point from the dev team.

Worth noting that this list “is not final,” and some things may be pushed back with others getting added in. Also worth noting is that while this first major update was planned for the end of 2026, it’s been pushed into next year as the team needs a bit more time. You can read about all of these plans in more detail over on Steam.
