Google has just announced that it’s now started rolling out version 5.05 of the Google Health app for Android and iOS devices, which builds on recent incremental releases with key integration and security features to users nationwide, alongside stability fixes.
For iOS users, version 5.05 now comes with bidirectional data sharing with Apple Health. iPhone owners can now sync data recorded by Google-compatible devices—such as Fitbit Air—directly back to the Apple Health app, including exercise logs, step counts, vital signs, and sleep metrics. Users can manage the new integration by navigating to their profile icon within the Google Health app, selecting “Partner apps,” and choosing Apple Health to manage permissions.

For users in the United States, the update introduces a secure sharing feature for clinical data via Smart Health Links. This essentially allows users to generate encrypted summaries of their medical records to share with healthcare providers or family members during check-ins or consultations. With that in mind, the feature is accessible under the “Medical” section of the app’s Health tab by creating a new entry under “Shareable records,” which can then be shared as a direct URL or QR code.
Rounding out the release are several backend performance fixes designed to improve tracking accuracy—Google says that version 5.05 addresses stability issues that previously affected VO2 calculations, exercise route mapping, and post-workout edit functions.
As for availability, the Google Health app update will arrive in phases over the coming weeks, with availability depending on device type and carrier; there’s no word yet on when it will reach other regions outside the United States, however.
