Sony has expanded its ULT POWER SOUND series with three new models, which include the ULT TOWER MAX, ULT TOWER 7, and the more compact ULT TOWER 5. The Japanese tech giant says that the new lineup combines heavy low-frequency output, high sound pressure, and a rugged aesthetic that’s built for any indoor or outdoor venue.
One key feature across all three models is Sony’s signature ULT button, which lets users toggle between multiple sound modes, including ULT1 for deep bass, ULT2 for extreme power and sound pressure, FLAT for a more basic profile, and LIVE for a more spacious sound. Users can also fine-tune the audio profile using Custom EQ settings within the Sony Sound Connect app.

Sony adds that the new lineup also features a newly-engineered circular woofer design paired with large-capacity speaker cabinets and an optimized ULT DUCT. For one, the ULT TOWER MAX uses three woofers alongside a high-powered amplifier that can deliver up to 2150 watts of output. The ULT TOWER 7 pushes up to 420 watts, while the portable ULT TOWER 5 outputs up to 300 watts. For spatial audio coverage, the MAX and ULT 7 models come with 360-degree sound output with multi-directional speaker arrays.
The new ULT speakers also feature Sound Field Optimization which can analyze speaker placement to adjust the frequency balance, as well as support for different connectivity options such as XLR, RCA, and USB-C, alongside dedicated inputs for karaoke via Sony’s optional ULTMIC14 microphone. Users can also enable multi-speaker setups via stereo pairing and Party Chain capabilities utilizing Auracast broadcast technology, which then syncs audio and lighting effects across multiple compatible units.
