Rockstar has gone above and beyond to make sure that the next game in the series is better than all the other titles combined. From a massive map to choices that affect your relationship, there are numerous ways that this title will outdo every other game Rockstar has developed.
Are you prepared to enter Leonida and explore Vice City once more? If not, you better get ready because the game is almost here.
10
The Hype
It’s Undeniable
It has been reported that Rockstar began development on GTA 6 shortly after the release of GTA 5 back in 2013/2014. This means that the game has been worked on for over a decade. That is a massive development time, but during that time, the hype for the game has only grown.
Thanks to the success of games like GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, the excitement around GTA 6 has only grown. It has been so popular that there is a meme for every cultural event that happened before the release of GTA 6.
The buzz around this game marketed it before the first trailer even dropped, and if there is any reason that GTA 6 will outdo every game prior, it is the hype alone. Of course, there are other reasons the game will be better, but the hype will make it so GTA 6 performs better than every past game that Rockstar has developed.
9
Graphics
More Refined
One of the more noticeable upgrades to Grand Theft Auto 6 is the graphics. There were numerous leaks leading up to the reveal of the extended gameplay trailer for GTA 6, and those leaks didn’t do much to make the game look appealing.
However, this changed with the extended gameplay reveal, as it showed that the graphics on the PlayStation 5 are going to be emaculate and far exceed any of the previous titles, with the most notable Rockstar game being Red Dead Redemption 2.
RDR2 is impressive, but the use of lighting and textures in GTA 6 is unmatched, making it one of the most beautiful games that anyone has ever seen, and one you won’t believe exists until you are playing it.
8
Map Size
It’s Massive
Rockstar is no stranger to making big maps, as Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto 5 both have impressive map sizes. However, they pale in comparison to the map size of Grand Theft Auto 6.
You might be wondering how much bigger Leonida is compared to past games. Well, as confirmed by Rockstar, the GTA 6 map is three times bigger than the map in Red Dead Redemption 2. Of course, I am talking about the playable area of the map in that game.
When compared to GTA 5, Vice City in GTA 6 is twice the size of Los Santos. Vice City and the surrounding areas are nearly 11 times larger than the city in GTA 5. To top it all off, there are hundreds of buildings that you can access to make the map seem even bigger.

7
Improved Wanted System
Outwit the Cops
The cops in Grand Theft Auto 6 are far more intelligent than those in past titles. I am sure you have found it easy to escape the cops in GTA 5. After all, there is a tunnel that you can drive through that makes the cops lose you even when you have a five-star wanted level.
You won’t be having luck like that in GTA 6, as there are various mechanics that make dodging the police much more difficult. For instance, cops will remember your face if you don’t wear a mask, they will track your car so you have to get a new one, and they will even keep tabs on what clothes you were wearing.
All of this makes avoiding getting caught much more difficult, but it will be extremely satisfying when you finally get away from the police because you outwitted them.
6
More Grounded
Grounded in Realism
Rockstar has always been good at creating more grounded worlds that react to what your characters do. However, this time, the team is going above and beyond with increasing the realism of the world you reside in.
Think of your character as a living organism. Just like in real life, they can gain weight if they eat too much, and will gain muscle and look more fit if they go to the gym. Along with this, various mechanics have been added to increase the realism.
For instance, you can scroll on your phone, ride taxis, chat with NPCs, go scuba diving, play mini-golf, and so much more. The team added tons of activities and mechanics that increase the realism of the world.
5
More Skill Required
Less Duck and Shoot
Something about GTA 5 that made shootouts feel far too easy was the lock-on. You can easily duck behind cover, aim, and snap the reticle onto a target without needing to use any skill.
At that point, all you need to do is point and shoot with no skill involved. Well, GTA 6 strays away from this, as the lock-on system has been removed and a free aim system is utilized instead.
Along with this, there are now multiple hit markers, with white markers appearing when you hit an enemy, yellow appearing when you incapacitate them, and red appearing when you kill them. This makes the combat much more intricate than it was in previous titles.
4
Non-Linear Heists
Be More Adaptive
Heists have tended to be a bit linear in past GTA titles. GTA 5 has plenty of heists, but many of them have set routes, or have a few select routes you can take to get in, complete the mission, and escape.
The toying around with heists in GTA 5, however, has seemed to drastically help the heists in Grand Theft Auto 6, as they aren’t nearly as linear. This also applies to jobs like robberies or boosting cars.
Taking longer to do things carefully may result in the police showing up. Going in fast may result in you damaging your loot. Along with this, missions have more adaptive routes, allowing you to take the path you feel most strongly about.

3
Reactive NPCs
That Know How To Act
The NPCs of past games Rockstar has developed aren’t the best. Take a look at GTA 5. The NPCs largely run away from you if you pull out a gun, and few, if any, will fight back. They let you walk all over them for the most part.
This is a major change in GTA 6, as the NPCs are far more reactive. For instance, you can choose to eavesdrop on conversations, and if you are caught, NPCs will confront you. This also happens if you happen to follow an NPC on the street for too long.
On top of this, Rockstar has made it clear that you aren’t the only citizen of Leonida who owns a gun and carries it around. Being too aggressive can cause you to end up in a shootout. Listening in on conversations can also lead to new activities, making the world far more reactive to your actions than ever before.
2
Spontaneous Quests and Events
A Break From Linear Style
Grand Theft Auto 6 has a bigger world and more adaptive world. It reacts on the fly sometimes, and that becomes apparent when you explore.
First, there are event missions that happen on the fly. An example that was given is a lawyer who can appear, and gifting him some drugs will get you some legal advice. Along with this, Jason and Lucia will sometimes suggest nearby jobs and activities.
Listening to what they have to say and taking them up on the offer can result in a new mission that you might not have discovered had you chose to ignore them. This is a major change from the more campaign-focused games Rockstar has produced, allowing for more activities to take place within the world of Leonida.
1
A Focus On Relationships
That Alters The Story
Rockstar is no stranger to making a design where your decisions matter when playing a game. For instance, when robbing the bank in Valentine in Red Dead Redemption 2, you can choose to blow up the safe, but it draws some major attention.
There is no doubt that GTA 6 will have some major story beats where you will need to make a decision that will alter the course of the story in some way or change the mission you are on. However, one of the biggest changes that sets it apart from the previous entries is its focus on your relationship.
Lucia and Jason can spend a lot of time together, and even complete heists as a couple. This time spent together builds on their relationship, which will have major implications in the story, affecting how their story plays out, making things much more personal.
