Deltarune Creator Reveals The Worst Thing He’s Ever Made

Deltarune & Undertale creator Toby Fox has made a shocking reveal on social media, something no sane fan had ever expected to see announced online. No, it’s not the release date for Deltarune Chapter 6, or the identity of the Roaring Knight: it’s something far, far worse.

While Toby Fox is best-known for Undertale, the meta-shattering RPG masterpiece, and Deltarune, his ongoing episodic series about the damages of escapism, he had a long creative career before his venture into video game development. Before Undertale, Fox created EarthBound fan games, and was a long-time contributor to Homestuck, with some of his music tracks from the latter being reused in his games.

Deltarune chapter 5 is, unsurprisingly, full of mysteries players are still trying to get their heads around.

So, what could Fox have revealed that’s worse than the slurs of the EarthBound Halloween Hack or simply being mentioned in the same breath as Homestuck? In a post on BlueSky, Fox revealed his business card from 2013, which is the kind of thing created by an overly-excited child in MS Paint, not one of the greatest video game developers and composers of his era.

Toby Fox’s Old Business Card Is An Artifact Of Grotesque Beauty

Toby Fox’s 2013 business card appears to show Sephiroth from Final Fantasy 7 during the Nibelheim incident, where he massacred innocent people before burning down a village. Except, this Sephiroth appears to have been made in Blender, as this was before the remake trilogy had been announced. True to the skeleton naming theme in Undertale, the fonts on the business card are a pivotal point of interest, especially for those who enjoy scarring the optic nerves.

A Sephiroth business card would be a huge embarrassment to anyone who isn’t Tetsuya Nomura, and even he’d find it a bit cringe. Fox is the kind of human who has long since surpassed cringe, which is why the business card is so amazing to behold, as it’s a glimpse into a time and a place of someone’s mind, one that has been rotted by anime, the Full House theme song, and PS1 Squaresoft titles.

In a post on BlueSky, Fox revealed his business card from 2013, which is the kind of thing created by an overly-excited child in MS Paint, not one of the greatest video game developers and composers of his era.

In a world where Undertale was never made, a Sephiroth business card is the kind of thing that would be mocked mercilessly on a Reddit post. The fact that its creator went on to make some of the most beloved video games of all time does take some of the sting out of the criticism. Heck, one of Fox’s characters, Sans Undertale, can fight Sephiroth in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, proving just how much he’s ascended as a fan.

Like everything that springs from Fox’s brow, fans should expect to see unlicensed recreations of the old business cards sold at anime and nerd conventions by the weekend. Chances are, people are already crafting them in MS Paint, in preparation for real-life reenactments of that one scene from American Psycho, complimenting each other on the tasteful thickness of their Genesis Rhapsodos cards.

The 2013 Fox business card is an item of sick beauty, something displaced from time itself, as it’s the kind of thing that would have been made in 2004 in the early days of the rise of meme culture. In 2026, it’s like seeing cave drawings on a wall, or the writing in the tomb of an Egyptian Pharaoh, only in the current era, it’s both a glimpse into the mind of a great artist, and more fodder for people looking to make Deltarune Chapter 6 theory videos. Maybe there’s proof that Dess is the Roaring Knight hidden somewhere in the flames behind Sephiroth?
