The EPOS IMPACT 1000 is a premium business Bluetooth headset that’s been quietly setting the bar in professional audio for a few years now and this latest refresh makes a strong case that it still deserves that title. If you spend a significant chunk of your day on calls, video meetings, or increasingly, dictating tasks to AI assistants, this is the kind of headset that was built with you squarely in mind.
EPOS has streamlined the IMPACT 1000 range down from ten variants to five, which makes the buying decision a lot less of a headache (but five may sound too many still for some). What hasn’t been streamlined is the feature set and this thing is packed with them.

Depending on which variant you pick up, the box includes the headset, a sustainable carry pouch made from recycled PET bottles, a USB-C to USB-C cable, a USB-C to USB-A adapter, and if you go with the dongle versions, the BTD 900c Bluetooth USB dongle and BTD C to A adapter. The wireless charging stand (CH 40) is included in the “Stand” variants, or available as a separate purchase. My review unit comes with it and it’s awesome – probably a must-buy if you have the cash.
The packaging itself is FSC-certified and plastic-free, which is a nice touch in 2026. The carry pouch is made from grey RPET felt (recycled PET bottles) and it looks and feels more premium than the typical nylon drawstring bag you get with most headsets at this price point. Not a hard case for maximum protection but still nice to have.
EPOS IMPACT 1000 REVIEW – DESIGN AND FEATURES
The first thing I noticed when picking up the IMPACT 1000 is how well the weight is distributed across the headset. It’s not light in a flimsy way. There’s clearly quality material in there but nothing about it feels front-heavy or unbalanced. You could definitely wear this for hours without being constantly reminded it’s on your head, and in daily use, that turned out to be exactly the case.
The IMPACT 1000 is an on-ear headset available in stereo and mono configurations, finished in black with leatherette ear pads. The leatherette itself provides plenty of cushioning, and the headband is smartly designed to offer padding while also sitting cleanly on the wireless charging stand, a small piece of thoughtful engineering. Importantly, because this is on-ear rather than over-ear, your ears aren’t being fully enclosed and hugged by the cups. That distinction matters over a long workday. Over-ear headsets can make your ears hot and fatigued after a while; the IMPACT 1000 avoids that entirely.
I had no issues wearing it through my daily morning stand-up which typically runs between 30 and 45 minutes and through longer retro sessions that can stretch from one to two hours. No hotspots, no discomfort.
The boom arm is flexible with 270 degrees of rotation, supporting left or right wearing depending on your preference. The lift-to-mute function quickly becomes second nature. Lift the arm and you’re muted; lower it and you’re live so no fumbling for a software button while someone’s mid-sentence. If you prefer to mute via your video conferencing app, that works too, and you’ll get an audio notification to confirm whether your mic is muted or unmuted. Both approaches coexist without getting in each other’s way.
The 360-degree busylights on both earcups are meant to be a practical addition for open-office environments as anyone passing your desk can immediately see you’re on a call. When I’m in a Zoom meeting for example, I can see the red lights surrounding the cups turned on. However, I find that they are too subtle to notice in daylight and unless you tell your office mates what they meant, people wouldn’t probably see them. Still a cool addition and innovation though.
Combined with wearing detection (the headset auto-mutes and pauses media when you take it off), the smart features here are quite well thought.

In a world where you’re increasingly dictating commands to AI assistants, that level of precision matters far more than it did even a couple of years ago. A misheard word in a meeting note is an inconvenience; a misheard instruction to an AI agent can mean a task done completely wrong. I don’t dictate to AI but have meetings daily.
The microphone uses Digital MEMS technology with a frequency response of 100 Hz to 16 kHz super wideband, which gives voices that natural, full-bodied quality. EPOS BrainAdapt is the brand’s underlying audio philosophy and the goal is to reduce cognitive load so you’re not mentally exhausted by the effort of listening after hours of calls. It’s backed by external testing, and the results show up in both the microphone clarity and the ANC implementation.
Performance & Real-World Usage
I work from a small home office that has a lot of humming background noise like modem, wireless router, and CCTV DVR, all running constantly. When I enabled the ANC, the hum didn’t disappear entirely, but it was significantly reduced. The more telling result was during actual calls and music listening: those background sounds were completely gone, or at least undetectable. And if you do run low, a 10-minute fast charge gives you up to 90 minutes of use which is enough to get through an important call without the anxiety of watching the battery indicator. However, mine comes with the wireless charging stand so I do not bother testing the battery life.
It’s not just a storage solution as it actively keeps the headset charged whenever you’re not using it, which means you can grab it for a meeting knowing it’ll be full. It also keeps your desk tidy. No connectivity issues at all during testing.
Connectivity
The IMPACT 1000 runs Bluetooth 5.3 with SBC, AAC, and LC3 codec support, and an operating range of up to 30 metres. It pairs with up to eight devices and can maintain three simultaneous Bluetooth connections so your laptop, phone, and a third device can all be live without needing to manually switch.
There are two connectivity paths: native Bluetooth (dongle-free), or via the BTD 900c USB-C dongle. While Bluetooth is totally fine, using the wireless dongle delivers a more stable, lower-latency connection, better wireless range, and unlocks advanced features like Dictation Mode, Auto Pause, and Usage Mode that native Bluetooth can’t access. If you’re in a dense wireless environment or doing heavy daily call work, the dongle version is still the more reliable option. For everyone else, dongle-free keeps things refreshingly simple.
The IMPACT 1000 is certified for Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet (dongle variants), and Webex by Cisco (dongle variants). Microsoft Swift Pair makes the initial Windows pairing fast.
Software
EPOS Connect is available as a desktop app (Windows and Mac), mobile app (iOS and Android, in seven languages), a web-based version, and for thin clients.
