With the 7.56 FFXIV Dawntrail patch notes out today there are also a lot of new details about the Beastmaster job quests and exclusive duty. Everything kicks off for the DPS limited job once someone finishes the A Realm Reborn MSQ “The Ultimate Weapon” and gets a Disciple of War or Magic level 50 job, as that’s when they can take on “Strangers of the Wood” and start capturing beasts. The quests for the new role are also part of New Game+ after the update.
As already established, any FFXIV subscriber who takes on the Beastmaster job can use Monk and Samurai equipment and go through its unique Job Quests and ones designed for roles, but their Retainers can’t. It can’t use Role Actions, go into Duty Roulettes, take on Deep Dungeons, head into PvP, go on Squadron Missions, or be in Hall of the Novice. The Field Operations The Bozjan Southern Front, The Forbidden Land Eureka, The Occult Crescent, the solo Duty Stone Sky Sea, Criterion Dungeons, Variant Dungeons, and Ultimate Raids also are out for that Job.

Each Beastmaster can use Gauge and Capture to increase your Master’s Beastiary and available creatures. You use Gauge to see if you can tame a beast, then must fight it and use Capture to acquire the familiar. You can also get Remnants of Resilience to trade for Kornago Gourds to get creatures without fighting them. Once you have some monsters on your side, you can assign them to your first, second, or third Battlehorn in the Master’s Bestiary. When summoned in a fight, it will use Instinctual Skills when 100 TP is built up in their gauge. “Strangers in the Wood” is the first quest to get the limited job from an Excited Adventurer at New Gridania (X:11.8, Y:13.6). There are nine additional Job Quests, for 10 total.
The new FFXIV Beastmaster Duty is called Crucible of the Unbroken. You must get the limited job to level 30 first and complete a tied Jb Quest to unlock it at Central Shroud (X:21.9 Y:22.8). This then means going across a board with your team, moving from Happenings on spaces to reach a final boss. Familiars can’t be used if their HP drops to 0, and the player fails if their own HP hits 0. The Snarl and Challenge Duty Actions there determine if your beast or your avatar will be targeted by foes. You can also earn Ephemeral Items in Crucible of the Unbroken like Beast Gear, Crucible Items, and Feed that can be used that run to help with survival. The Bright and Faded Remnants of Resilience earned from the Duty can be used at the Kornago Merchant to get things like Kornago Gourds or enhance gear, and your familiars that went in will get EXP that increases their Beast Ranks.
The Final Fantasy XIV Beastmaster job is now live as part of the FFXIV Dawntrail patch 7.56, and the game is on the Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
