It may not be the latest entry-level model, but our tech expert, Max Parker, spent a week testing the iPhone 16e at launch in 2025 and came away impressed enough to award it four stars, which makes this $60 discount an especially easy one to recommend to anyone shopping on a budget.
Battery life is where Max found the 16e most impressive, with enough charge left over most days to make it comfortably through the evening without a top-up. He was equally struck by how complete the software felt, since the 16e runs the same Apple Intelligence features as the pricier iPhone 16 and 16 Pro.
The design earned praise too, built from 85% recycled aluminium and finished with the same Action Button found on the standard iPhone 16, which Max liked being able to customise for quick access to the camera or Visual Intelligence.

Performance held up well too, with the same A18 chip found in the standard iPhone 16 keeping everything from gaming to everyday multitasking running smoothly, without any noticeable slowdown throughout his week of testing.

The OLED screen impressed him just as much, producing vivid colours and accurate skin tones that he rated above most mid-range Android rivals, and the 48MP main camera captured detailed, punchy photos throughout his testing.
