After the One UI 8 Watch update, it was clear that Samsung would stop Wear OS updates for the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. The brand has stopped offering security updates for the devices. They’re the first Wear OS Galaxy Watches whose update support has ended.
Many devices received the September 2026 security update this week, and Samsung also updated its security update scope webpage. It’s showing clearly on the updated page that the company has ended software support for multiple Galaxy devices. These include the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.
The two smartwatches, the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, launched in mid-2021 with Wear OS 3-based One UI Watch software. Since their launch, they received four major Wear OS updates: Wear OS 3.5, Wear OS 4, Wear OS 5, and Wear OS 6. This implies that their last software update was the August 2026 security update.
The Galaxy Watch 9 or the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 were launched recently with Wear OS 7-based One UI Watch 9 software so they have up-to-date software.
